When is Cox going to get this POP and SMTP problem fixed. Continuous problems sending/receiving emails in Outlook. Always get a wiwindow popping up that wants the password, which is there and is correct. But my emails don't go in or out when this box continuously pops up. Then Cox must do something and it goes away, just to reappear a day or 2 later. My computer guy says it is a proproblem with the POP and SMTP. It is soooo frustrating! Anyone else having this problem?
I'm having the same problem. I've been using this connection method forever, haven't changed any settings, and now keep having to hit enter to accept my password that is already remembered. Quite a pain. In addition, with the new system I've been told(after several hours of tech support), that you can't transfer an email from one account to another unless you delete the entire original account. You can delete the email ID from the previous account, but you won't be able to select on the new account as it will say ID already exists. Another example of newer is not always better.
My husband and I are having the same annoying issues with getting our Cox-served email. We've used Cox.net for at least 10 years now, on various different devices and versions of Windows and Outlook. This issue has arisen with us in the past 6 months, and as I see others experiencing the same issue, we can rule out the devices and/or Outlook. We get that annoying window every few minutes, asking us to confirm the email address and password. They haven't changed. When you click OK, there is a slight delay, and then the emails do start arriving (should be grateful for that).
THIS is why I have a separate Google account. FIX this please.

POP3 Authentication Errors.
Having same issue with periodically ongoing server authentication errors. Cox's email Servers are not passing credentials about 50% of the time. Problem is on all devices and platforms.

I, too, am having this problem and it is driving me nuts!
This has been an ongoing issue for years. I got around it for the longest time by using Eudora and changing my pop server name when it became too bad.
since the change to "more secure" email it has gotten worse. I could no longer use Eudora since it was not compatible with the secure settings.
Now because of how outlook works I get prompted 20 or 30 times a day for my password. I just check the box to remember my password and it will work for a few minutes or maybe an hour or 2.
Eudora would never prompt you for a password, it would just say there is a problem with the server and it would try again later. No popups.
Fix this issue. It's not on my end.
Oh and my non cox email addresses do not have this problem.
Same for me here. I also have Outlook and cannot get email to operate properly. Has just happened in the past couple of weeks. Have been on the phone with Cox service and they have gone through the email settings as well as recreated my account and changing password, etc. Has been 2 phone calls and 3 internet chats with service, and no fix yet. It has temporarily been fixed, but happens again. Am getting request to enter password. Password is correct. Am not able to receive emails, and on occasion, not able to send either. But I do get the emails through Cox webmail as well through my cell phone. I concur with other users, please fix this Cox, I am in the process of finding another internet provider, as well as home phone and cable. Service has not been good.
I have an interesting twist for you that proves this is a Cox problem caused by their "upgraded" system. I have both Cox Business and Residential internet service. Initially, I had two business services, but I downgraded my one at home to Residential when I no longer needed a static IP there, but as a result, I have several legacy email accounts that are occoxmail.com and I have one new cox.net account. My legacy accounts work fine no matter which connection I am on and my cox.net account will not connect at either location. My non-Cox email also works fine. Therefore, this is clearly a Cox Mail Server problem and not Outlook, server addresses or anything else. I plan to close my one cox.net account and replace it with some gmail or yahoo acct.
Any update on this?? As of 9am yesterday morning every mobile device (iphone, android, laptop) stopped receiving emails. We can send and see incoming on webmail but nothing is being delivered to our devices. No error message either. Cox claims we should contact each of our devices support cause its not their problem! Call support helping us could not get that Cox pop.cox.net specificly is the common denominator!! HELP!
It will be a year before it will be fixed. At lesst you know when Emails are not coming or going. My Cox Issue is that my Email Accounts are set to Inactive every day or so, but there is no error message at my end or the sender's end, and the emails are not stored for when the account is set back to Active. This has been going on for over a month, and it has been raised to the highest support level, but it is still a problem
