I don't disagree with you. I literally get a full credit for the panoramic, so it costs me nothing. And as far as the traditional cable boxes, unless there's another service from cox that I don't know about, the trad boxes don't have DVR service.
You either get no info or bad info. It's a good thing you're on here.
Traditional cable boxes do have DVR service. Research under the Receiver Capabilities column.
Will this full credit expire?

I've always felt if the Stream Player complies with a network standard, any Internet-access device should work. Then again, your streamer data is still passing through the Panoramic modem.
However, when I first heard about these streamers, my initial thought was data caps. Would having a TV on all day count against my data cap as opposed to the traditional (coax) cable box, which is unmetered. It seemed as though the streamer would create more problems than solve. And does it really solve any issue with wires? I mean...it still requires wires.
Anyway, a moderator confirmed "regular TV content" doesn't count against data caps. For example, if you navigate outside of regular content on Contour...Netflix, Youtube, etc...this content (streaming) would count against data caps.
I think the Panoramic distinguishes between regular content and streaming. I'm not sure. Even though it works with your Velop, it may count against your caps.

No matter to what device you're connecting the 4K boxes, the data still passes through the Panoramic modem. Perhaps there's an added level of encapsulation between the Pano and 4K boxes. The 4K box probably encapsulates regular programming but not streaming content.
I don't know...just stabbing in the dark.

I did a test tonight. I turned off my Panoramic Wifi. My wireless 4k stream player went offline and brought up a dialog box about re-connecting to wifi. I was able to choose my Velop wifi and enter my password. Once I did, the contour service reconnected and I was able to use it as normal. So there is no special signal that comes from the Panoramic. I had a feeling that would be the case, but the documentation implies differently.

I've thought about that. I'll need to monitor my data usage to make sure that's not happening.

Here's the link to the post of a moderator (Becky) distinguishing between data caps for regular TV content and streaming through the Contour streamer.

That's the way I understand it, too. But the wireless receiver was connected to my regular Pano SSID which was what I used for my home wifi before I hooked up the Velop. So it seems like the "cable TV" data is just passing over the internet like everything else. Yesterday was my lowest day of data usage in over a week, so it appears that this is the case - that it's not using the allotment of data. The 2 wired boxes are MoCA, which is just using the internal wiring to pass internet data instead of running ethernet cable, so it's like they're hardwired to a switch instead of using wireless. I really think that Cox can distinguish between what is "cable TV" data and what is streaming data without there being literally two different paths for the data.

Excellent point - that makes a lot of sense.
