Continuously having intermittent internet outage/sluggish issues
We have always used the Cox supplied Panoramic modem/router for years. Lately, we have had continuous intermittent internet drop issues; internet randomly slows down, sometimes drop off, so,I will do the proverbial “reset” will be fine for a few hours then will slow down or cut off again in the middle of streaming a movie or video… really annoying!!! I’ve tried: Resetting the modem again and again Used the Cox Tech Support app also recommending multiple tests/resets/etc. Replaced the Panoramic modem/router a few weeks ago… worked fine for a few days, then the slowing and cutting off all over again What’s really frustrating is the very delayed response of my driveway and front door security cameras when a person or package is being delivered. I have even added several cox pods to augment the signal from my router to the cameras but to no avail. unfortunately, Cox is the only internet provider with a fiber optic service in our community.bricksbCox14 minutes agoVisitor49Views0likes2CommentsPoor Service, can't talk to a human
Internet went out right after a phone call ( I have internet and phone service). I reset the modem and the modem would not connect to internet. Even rebooted computer, knowing this wouldn't help as the modem clearly showed it didn't connect. Strange thing is the battery and phone like would just blink. When it tried to connect online light blink orange a couple times and then stop trying and just blink phone and battery light. Called Cox and some stupid computer doesn't give me a choice, says it will reset modem and send me a text!! Stupid, I already did all that and of course it didn't help. Then after hitting selection 0 a dozen times I get several people that just do same thing- reset modem. Finely some said they would send a tech out the next day. I said, it clear it is the modem, why don't I take it to the Cox store and get a replacement. Their response, it could be wiring. I said not likely not likely as wiring has not been touched. They said waste of time going to Cox store. I drove all the way over to the Cox store with modem anyway. They gave me another one. Bought it home and internet worked fine, but no phone. I knew Cox store must not have put the new Cox modem serial number in as also phone service. After several more calls and dumb computer doing resets without me asking I got a person. They checked and said I was right, Cox store didn't set serial number on new modem for phone. The support person did it and phone worked and she even called me on it to make sure. She gave good service. Bottom line Cox service sucks and their computer auto answering and problem solving is worthless!! Many of their staff don't have any technical knowledge, they just read from a book of questions. I spent over 40 years as a system software tech for large mainframe computers for the government. I know how the first level of tech support help desk works- they follow a flowchart. Then the auto computer trying to resolve a problem is stupid. The person at Cox store was nice and only one lady at phone support were nice and actually listen to what I said. Cox need to wake up, it may be time to move to another service. BTW that Arris was only 9 months old, Cox forced me into replacing my old one that was 8 years old with no problems. They said this one would be better. Now they told me this new Arris was a better model than the last one. Maybe it will last 10 months?Diverjerry6 hours agoNew Contributor II74Views1like3Comments- Msbeegee689 hours agoNew Contributor20Views0likes0Comments
Intermittent Internet
For the last 3-4 weeks I have been getting constant internet disconnects that last less than a minute but long enough to disconnect me from gaming. This happens multiple times a day. I have done every version of a rest on my modem you can think of and I still have the issue. I don't know why it started all of a sudden and why it keeps happening. It seems to only happen when I am gaming. I don't get it.sailormatt2110 hours agoVisitor18Views0likes1CommentDownload speed consistently dropping to 20mbps and under whilst upload speed remains 115mbps
I've been having issues with my internet service for pretty much 10 months at this point (since I got it). I'm running an Arris S33 Surfboard and notice frequent drops from normal gigabit download speeds to <20mbps. When these drops occur, whatever I'm doing experiences a massive burst of packet loss which frequently leads to a complete disconnect or if I'm lucky a like 20 second lag out. Whenever these drops happen, it's caused by event codes 16 or 20 and recovers with event codes 22 or 24. However the timeframe between the drop and recovery varies greatly (sometimes <15 min, sometimes over an hour). all of the event codes pertain to the OFDM PLC channel 160 on the modem. I've looked through the power levels and snr of all the channels and all of the downstream channels are hovering within 0-5 dBmV for power and the SNR for most channels is 40-43dB (OFDM PLC channel 160 at 41dB currently) and a few channels at 37dB. However, I have also seen the OFDM channel at 0dB on multiple occasions but am not sure whether that is a bug or not. upload power is 43-44dBmV on all channels except the OFDMA channel which is at 38dBmV. I've had techs out on multiple occasions, one who completely replaced the RG59 coax with a new RG6 cable and another set of techs did maintenance on the apartment junction box but none of this has fixed the issue. Lastly, as a side detail, the upload speed is almost never touched by these issues and maintains a frequent 100-115mbps. If anyone has had a similar issue and fixed it or knows the cause, I'd appreciate info. ThanksEricJacobs4821 hours agoNew Contributor41Views0likes1CommentMystery Data use
Sometime last year, our data usage spiked without our behavior changing. We reacted by adding data, but there's some 50GB a day that I can't account for in our use. I've tried changing passwords, monitoring MAC access. All sorts of things and can't find the leak. We went in vacation and noticed that while there was a dip in use, it did not line up with the dates we were gone. Is there some way that Cox can help me figure out where the extra data is going? I'd hate to think they're just fraudulent marking up generic days usage to force me to pay moreGusherManX3 days agoNew Contributor62Views0likes2CommentsTulsa intermittent internet connection? 5 days now
I have been getting internet issues oddly never had an issue before with it like at all. Suddenly my internet drop while working, restarted my modem it worked for 20mins and same thing. First thing that popped in my head check cox outages on their site. No know outage in my area (North Tulsa just by admiral). So went out my way got it new modem cause mine was old like 5 years old. Same thing no internet, great!! at this point got fed up and called tech support did troubleshooting process no help there called a tech out tech came Saturday morning. Said it’s all good on my end and all good at the pole the issue is COX! Funny right? No outage in my area…. So now I’m at internet comes and goes when it wants to if this gets to 20 days I’m whole heartedly taking a day on the phone with customer service for a discount. Cause I am getting 1/8 of full service. Is anyone else going through this?Cartech9185 days agoVisitor II42Views0likes1CommentWe are paying too much money for Internet with all of these outages!!!!!
I live in the Zachary Taylor neighborhood. I’m certain there are records of outages showing when they happen and for how long. On average, I’d say I have one a week sometimes two there for several hours long. This rarely happened when I was W/ AT&T. They always seem to happen on Sunday morning as well in most cases it appears to have nothing to do with weather. I feel that when you pay for a service you should get that service. Well that’s not happening since I’ve been with Cox. We deserve a credit of money on our bill. Sadly, you probably won’t get one unless we all rise up together. I’m sick of this **bleep** if it doesn’t change or if I don’t get a credit then I will never return to Cox ever again, and I will devote the rest of my life to making sure everyone knows that they do not live up to their promises.Mark25 days agoNew Contributor81Views0likes1Comment
