2.4 ghz wifi question
I have the Panoramic WiFi, which supports both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz network. Anyway, my understanding is that if you are using a device (i.e.: Cell phone) that is only capable of accessing the 2.4 ghz band, then you are stuck at the slower speeds even though the Panoramic WiFi goes up to 5 ghz, which is faster. Anyway, I recently chatted with a Cox representative and he said that Cox offers a plan where you pay $15.00 more per month to access the 5 ghz network. Does that plan actually override my cellphone's 2.4 ghz limitation and allow for faster speeds over wi-fi, like the 5 ghz speeds? I currently have the 150 mbps coverage, but I'm not sure if that is strictly through an Ethernet connection or if that includes Wi-Fi. Is what the Cox representative trying to sell me for $15.00 more per month legitimate? He was actually claiming that I could get speeds greater than 150 mbps over Wi-Fi with the "upgrade". Thank You.
Multiple hidden networks coming from Panoramic Wifi
Hey all, I've noticed that there are multiple hidden networks coming from my Panoramic Wifi, I've never seen this from other routers. 2 in the 5ghz channel, 2 inthe 2.4ghz channel. They are each on the corresponding channel to the unhidden normal network. (2.4ghz for example, main network on channel 11, two hidden networks also on channel 11) They have the same signal strength as the main networks. There is one 802.1X classified hidden network in both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I am viewing this data by using the "Wifi Explorer" app from the macOS app store. What are these networks for, and can I turn them off? Thankyou!Access point temporarily full on 2.4ghz. Is there a limit of connected devices?
I have multiple items on my network: thermostats, cameras, lights, etc. all use 2.4GHz connection switching to 5GHz isn't an option. Is there a limit to the number of devices I can have on my network? They don't access the internet consistently but do need connect from time to time which doesn't allow anyone else to use the connection they keep getting the access point temporarily full error message....full of what????
Device says paused but it’s active in the app
We just got a new panoramic modem/router from Cox. It’s been nothing but problems from day 1. We run speed tests on the computer and it says we’re getting fast speeds but pages do not load and we have to disconnect our phones from the WiFi completely to get it to work. The latest issue is that when I try to use my laptop after not having used it in a couple of hours it says the device is paused. I go into the My WiFi app and it says the device is active - not paused at all. The only way I can get the laptop to work is to restart it every time. But that only works for a few minutes. After a few minutes of use pages won’t load again. I’ve called Cox, spent endless hours on the phone, I’ve had a service technician come out, and they’ve been no help at all. We can’t work or do school at home. I’m losing my mind. Any help is appreciated.
Panoramic WIFI Modem needs to be factory restored every 6-8 weeks
Hi there! I started using COX internet in April of this year. I'm using Cox Wifi Modem Model CGM4140COM (or at least that's the Model Name from the COX App). My speeds and connection are fine most of the time, except that about every 6-8 weeks we lose all connection to internet while the wifi is still on and active. What that looks like: Modem shows a solid white light, indicating all is well in the kingdom Devices in house (computers, smartphones, game systems, etc.) can connect to the WIFI network without issue If I try to connect with the internet on any of the devices connected to the WIFI Network, I cannot reach the internet For cellular enabled devices, when disconnecting from the WIFI Network I can then reach the internet just fine Resetting the Modem doesn't resolve the issue. Unplugging for 10 minutes and then plugging back in doesn't resolve the issue. The only thing that has resolved the issue is completely factory restoring the modem using the little button on the back and setting everything up again using a new Network Name (can't reuse the old one as that confuses all the devices previously connected using that name). I've gone through this routine 3 times now over the year. I contacted COX Support via chat who reset the router again but never suggested factory restoring (I just did that on my own). In short, is anyone else seeing this or has anyone else seen this? If so which steps did you take? Did you just go with a third-party modem/router instead? Or did you have your Modem replaced by COX? This type of internet works for laptops, Netflix, and basic streaming services. But when it comes to playing online video games, forget it. Even if you use the ethernet, you only will get between 200-300Mbps download, and 2.9Mbps upload speed. These speeds still lag when you play online video games". I decided to upgrade my service to cox Gigablast as of 20March2020. With the world under quarantine, especially the entire state of California, I said okay I definitely cannot deal with the Lag on PS4 that I have been dealing anymore. So I went to the local cox store after setting up my new service online and picked up my device. The customer service representative said it wasn't necessary that I rent the device, as I could buy a separate modem and router from Best Buy or where-ever, but it would cost about $400 with a separate modem and router. I decided to try out the cox panoramic modem+router combo that they offer for 11$ a month. I go home, plug it in and it was a super easy set up using the app for it. I connect it to my PS4 and test the connection. This piece of garbage (which is supposed to put out up to 900+ mbps basically almost 1 Gbps) only put out 24.9 Mbps download and 2.4 Mbps upload. This is down right criminal at these speeds. But before I called my lawyer, I decided to call tech support, so that someone could come out and see if the signal needs to be adjusted at my apartments. They are supposed to come out tomorrow (March 23, 2020) and hopefully fix it. Just the fact that I have to go the extra mile, and MAYBE get the issue fixed is absolutely ridiculous.My apartments are literally ONLY able to get Cox service. Isn't this considered a MONOPOLYat this point, since there is no other competition available? I have always had so many issues with cox, and its sad that they can't provide the working class of the America a fast internet service, especially whatwe are paying them for. I will hopefully remember to make another post tomorrow afterPAYING a tech support member a FEE in order to get my SERVICE that I justPAID for to WORK like it is ALREADY SUPPOSED TO. If it doesn't, well maybe I need to start putting this money that I am paying for this BS service towards law school, so that I can sue them into bankruptcy. Hotspot Outage
I have been trying to report a Hotspot outage in my area. It has been out for about three weeks now. Where or how can I report this outage? (Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201). I have used this hotspot consistently in the past. Now when I try to connect I get (no internet connectivity). Please fix it. THANKS!
