does SB6141 not work with cox?
We had the Panoramic modem/router on the gigabit plan. Then we downgraded to preferred (150mbps). Since there was no need for the Panoramic modem, I tried to activatea SB6141 with Cox over the phone. During the bootup sequence, the SB6141 send/receive lights turned solid green, but the internet (globe icon) light just kept flashing, before the whole cycle repeated. I tried several things with the technician: * Unplugged the modem, waited for a few minutes before plugging it back in * Tried the coax in a different room * Tried connecting my laptop directly to the modem instead of via the router * Verified the serial number and MAC address * Verified the work order for downgrading to preferred internet was completed The technician said that they couldn't even send a reboot signal to the SB6141 because it was offline. His theory is that DOCSIS 3.0 isn't supported in my area, even though DOCSIS 3.1 is. I don't know how much sense that makes. He believes that if I just buy a DOCSIS 3.1 modem then everything will just work, but I'm doubtful. What are we missing here? Is this a known issue?915Views0likes4CommentsSB6141 firmware and IPV6
My SB6141 configuration tab says that it is IPV4 only. I would like to be using IPV6 which my router suports, The modem should be able to support it as well. My firmware version is SB_KOMODO-1.0.7.0-SCM00-NOSH. Is there a newer build that supports IPV6?1.1KViews0likes1CommentSB6141 firmware version?
Hi there, I was on 1.0.6.16 firmware on my SB6141; however after a call today level 2 tech support at COX told me 2 years older version 1.0.6.14 was actually the recommended one and rolled me back. I am curious as to if that was correct? or should I be on the newer one? Also, there is an issue with SB6141 where if upload pipe is saturated the modem will lock up (not reboot, you have to pull power to recover), the issue is well documented and has been happening for over 3 years. Fairly easy to reproduce by just dropping a file onto a service that will saturate it. Like Dropbox or Youtube. Any size file will do, happened yesterday to me with 1 megabyte file dropped in Dropbox. Someone mentioned a new Arris SB6141 firmware 1.0.7 is rolling out soon for Comcast that addresses this issue. Does COX plan to roll out this firmware?1.3KViews0likes1CommentSlow speeds with Motorola SB6141 Modem
I just ran the internet speed tool and got 8Mbps download and 9Mbps upload. I have the Cox Internet Premier package I've checked my account and found that my modem is correctly identified as the equipment that I'm using. However, I've read in this forum that if my account does not properly identify my equipment as DOCSIS 3.0, then the speeds will suffer. Am I able to check and change that on my account myself or does this have to be checked/changed by a Cox representative? I have not yet checked if my modem has the latest firmware update so that may be an issue as well.1.5KViews0likes1CommentSurfboard 6141 modem
our internet hes been fine until yesterday, the modem has been recycling time after time, WE HAVE DONE all the usual rebooting , unpluging ect, the rout is New and is fine ASUS RT-ac68u, after taking to others on this issue I want firmware upgrade pushed through asap. So Cox when can you do this ?2.8KViews0likes3CommentsNot Getting the 50Mbps Speed
I just got a DOSIS 3.0 Modem, speed up to 320Mbps. But the download speed is still around 30Mbps. I used either speed test software or cox speed testing tools and get the consistant result. I use ethernet cables and get the same result as my WiFi, which is 802.11ac. I saw a lot of guys has the same problem. I guess I need to talk to COX before they can adjust my account settings to get 50Mbps speed.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsSB 6141 firmware
I purchased a brand new white Motorola SB 6141 in November. Everything was running great with it until mid to late January. Since then at least once a week the modem reboots itself. Ive had 2 techs out in the last 2 weeks and they say everything is fine with the line. In fact the one that was out today said that the modem has been up for 22 days. I showed him the logs on the modem where there are t4 timeouts and reboots as recent as yesterday. I was told it could be due to the RG59 cabling in my unit. I find this hard to believe since in the 12+ years Ive lived here I can count on 1 hand the number of times Ive had internet issues. Ive read that there is updated firmware available but everyone Ive spoken on the phone says theres no update available. Is the firmware only available to certain regions? I just upgraded my cable modem to an Arris SB 6141 and after three separate calls to provision/activate it, it still does not work. All lights on the modem indicate successful operation and it gets a valid IP Address, it just cannot access the internet. My current guess is that it may be a firmware issue, and I would have thought that the latest firmware would have been pushed by Cox upon activation, but that does not seem to be the case. I'd like to try updating the firmware, and so far have been unable to find anyone at Cox who can/will do this. Here is the information on the firmware (both before and after activation): Model Name: SB6141 Vendor Name: Motorola Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3 Hardware Version: 7.0 Firmware Build Time: Oct 29 2012 18:07:13 I've had to revert back to my old Docsis 2.0 cable modem each time so it is not currently connected.7KViews0likes11CommentsSB6141 Random Drops
Intermittently my SB1641 will reboot. Right before it happens, I get a flurry of Critical Errors on the Modem Log Screen. Mostly: No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out (I'll get about 7 or 8 in rapid fashion, then the reboot) When I called Tech Support the guy admitted that my neighborhood appeared to have about 50% of the Modems offline but could not declare an outage. All my signals and levels appear normal. I have changed our connectors, cables, everything in line to the SB Modem. I even connected directly to the Modem with the same issue. It looks to be a Cox issue but all I can get is we will send a Tech out in 4 days. I need to work from home and have to drive to the local McDonalds to get my work done. Is it worth trying a new Modem before the Tech arrives...not sure what else to do.2.5KViews0likes2Comments
