Correct IPv6 Setting for Netgear R7000?
On an Ultimate package in Orange County, for a Netgear R7000 router behind a DOCSIS 3.1 modem, what is the correct IPv6 setting to use in the routers config page: 6to4Tunnel? DHCP? Static? Auto Config? Is there a need to designate a DHCP host? This is a simple home connection with only internet service and just two devices; no TV, no phone.Solved9.4KViews0likes3CommentsIPv6 questions
So I have a Arris Surfboard DBG6900-AC router. I live in the San Diego, California area and am wondering if IPv6 is implemented in my area. According to the Cox website, IPv6 is technically enabled everywhere, but when talking to tech support and checking my modems setting, it isnt. Just curious and would like to enable IPv6 if possible.1.1KViews0likes1CommentNot Getting a Response from Cox's IPv6 DHCP Server...
I am sending IPv6 DHCP Solicits out through my WAN interface, but I am not getting any response from Cox's servers... IPv6 had been working for several months previously; I just noticed this behavior about a week ago. This is the solicit message I'm sending out (slightly redacted): 01:39:04.858176 IP6 (flowlabel 0x070ba, hlim 1, next-header UDP (17) payload length: 58) fe80::cee1:ffff:ffff:ffff.546 > ff02::1:2.547: [udp sum ok] dhcp6 solicit (xid=71e4b9 (client-ID hwaddr type 1 cce1ffffffff) (rapid-commit) (elapsed-time 65535) (option-request DNS-server) (IA_PD IAID:0 T1:0 T2:0)) But I never see any response. I am located in San Diego. Anyone else seeing this?Solved2.8KViews0likes2CommentsLoss of connectivity, IPv6 only (no IPv4) and DOCSIS T3/T4 errors
Our two Win10 computers go from disconnected, IPv6 access only, IPv4 and IPv6 full access, everything ok and back again. This has been happening for several weeks. I have swapped out cable modem (NETGEAR C6300BD), NIC cards and switch in the house without impact. The ethernet interface often says: IPv4 Connectivity: No network access IPv6 Connectivity: Internet You can also see this in online forums as "only google works" as all IPv6 sites work - but there aren't many. When running diagnostics the error is "Ethernet" does not have a valid IP configuration" Not fixed. Also noticed teredo tunneling was being used to do IPv6 over IPv4 and that this is one of the least prefered methods. After reviewing cable modem event logs there are several T4 errors and some T3 errors. Therefore I believe this problem is between cable modem and Cox. Greetings, all, and Happy New Year! I do network support for federal systems that use IPv6 for their websites. We've had IPv6 on internet facing web sites at work since 2012, but I still cannot test the sites from home. I've heard from Cox support, that IPv6 is now available in New Orleans to home users, but other support personnel seem quite confused on the matter. IPv6 is much more confusing for all concerned than IPv4, I'm sure. The Cox IPv6 information web page (articleId=0bced860-9666-11df-6baf-000000000000) has no information at all for setting up IPv6 on home routers. Numerous posts here have been answered with misinformation, such as users not needing to do anything to setup IPv6 on their routers, and that one only needs a DOCSIS 3 modem. That's quite impossible, if you've every configured IPv6 on any kind of router. I have Cox High Speed Internet Preferred and a Cisco DOCSIS 3 modem provisioned by Cox. My home router runs OpenWRT with the latest firmware. I would like to know: 1. Is IPv6 actually available for Cox High Speed Internet Preferred in the New Orleans area? 2. Is there a Cox document that describes the settings needed for DHCPv6 vs SLAC, Global prefix, DNS addresses, etc? I do not want to use any sort of IPv6 tunneling protocol. I want dual stack (both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled simultaneously from the PC all the way to the ISP). I can provide packet captures of the modem's ethernet , if needed. Thanks! =Foonly=2KViews0likes3CommentsHIGH bill!!!!! Had 2 YEAR price guarantee... Laughable joke ...
Since having your service, I've been lied to repeatedly.. My bill continues to get higher, even though I was told my bill would be the same for TWO years!!! (Kept the recording as proof!) It hasn't even been a year and my price has gone up... I call in and complain, they 'fix it' (to what it should have been anyway!) next month same thing... and you want me to continue with your service??????? I don't think so!! Fix your problems with billing, follow through with what your employees are telling people, and maybe, maybe you might keep more customers and have a LOT less complaints to deal with...1.6KViews0likes2CommentsCannot access IPv4 websites.
I recently changed addresses and upgraded my Cox internet to the Ultimate package. Ever since then, I've been unable to access IPv4 websites through WiFi. I've tried everything from clearing my browser cache, cookies, and restarting my affected devices. The only thing that helped was resetting my router to factory settings, and that only worked for a couple of days. 1st-level Cox phone support has been of no help whatsoever. I know this is an IPv6 issue, because IPv6 sites are the only sites that I can access on my wireless devices (laptop, phone). If anyone knows how to help me resolve my issue, please let me know what you need from me. I've had no luck after 3 calls with Cox over the last 3 weeks and I'm ready to switch ISPs if I can't get this issue resolved.2.1KViews0likes1Comment
