Where is IPv6 Support for Cox Gigablast Fiber?
Cox, it’s 2025, and I’m here to ask: where is the IPv6 support for your Gigablast Fiber service? You’ve been promising IPv6 support for years. Your own moderator, Lisa, posted on the forums five years ago: "Cox has established an IPv6 Migration Program to make sure that all Cox networks, systems, and products have IPv6 compatibility so that when the IPv4 addresses are exhausted, we will continue our business operations without interruption. We are in the process of developing the IPv6 migration plan for all of products and services." That was half a decade ago. And yet, IPv6 support for Gigablast Fiber remains non-existent. This lack of progress is unacceptable, especially for a service marketed as a top-tier fiber solution. Many users have been patiently waiting, discussing the need for IPv6 support, and repeatedly questioning its timeline: IPv6 Prefix Delegation on ONT When Will IPv6 Work with Fiber to the Home Under Gigablast? Gigablast - IPv6 ETA We’ve reached a point where IPv4 is no longer sustainable, and IPv6 adoption is essential for modern internet functionality. Major ISPs worldwide have implemented IPv6, yet Cox seems stuck in neutral. Why is Cox Gigablast Fiber—your premium service—still without IPv6 support? What is the timeline for implementation? Your customers deserve transparency and action, especially for your fiber customers, who are among your most advanced and discerning users. It’s time to deliver on your promises, Cox. Let’s hear an update.90Views0likes7CommentsIPv6 Prefix Delegation on ONT
Hello Everyone :) I have a fiber to the home with Gigablast and have a Nokia ONT. I've been trying to receive an IPv6 prefix to be assigned to my router by requesting a /64 however to date, I have been unsuccessfull. Three years ago, Dustin/Cox stated that prefix delegation was only working under DOCSIS modems and not under PON circuits: https://forums.cox.com/discussions/internet/when-will-ipv6-work-with-fiber-to-the-home-under-gigablast/121392 Is IPv6 prefix delegation still unsupported on PON circuits or is it now supported? Hi I'm on Pano WiFi and has been experienced annoying connectivity/latency issues, most prominently in voice/video calls over whatsapp and the like. It is bad to the point when switching to LTE (with 1 bar signal) makes it much better. I'm positive that WiFi is fine, as I have same problems over wired connection as well, plus speedtest is happy. Today I was looking at PingPlotter and I noticed that there's huge packet loss when using IPv6, while IPv4 is fine: To verify this, I took my rooted Android phone and did "echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6", which essentially disables IPv6 at the OS level. Verified with http://test-ipv6.com that it indeed got disabled and then checked problematic apps. I think this has "resolved" the issue for me. Now the question is, how to get a proper fix? I wouldn't like to go over all of our devices and disable IPv6.. Thanks401Views0likes1CommentNo IPv6 support on business internet account? Say what!?
I just contacted Cox business support and I was informed that Cox does NOT support IPv6 on their business internet service!? Say what now!? Can someone confirm this? I'm located in southern California. Thank you in advance.1.4KViews0likes4CommentsNew Technicolor CGM4331COM Gateway for Cox / Wi-Fi 6 Gateway
I've seen a new Technicolor CGM4331COM gateway mentioned for Xfinity (link below). Does anyone know whether this hardware will also be adopted by Cox in the near future? It seems like Xfinity has already started rolling this new equipment out to customers. Or is there any other updated gateway on the horizon for Cox? To me the Cox network seems to have some serious deficiencies with IPv6. I've seen some evidence that the current CGM4141 gateway may be part of the issue (I see many "FW.IPv6 FORWARD drops" and "FW.IPv6 INPUT drops" that coincide with my spotty internet performance). Cox should have a new gateway in the works that mitigates this. I imagine they'll need to put out something with Wi-Fi 6 by the end of 2020. While Wi-Fi 6 isn't my main interest, I'm hoping they'll use this as an opportunity to correct the issues with IPv6 and the firewall. Anyone heard anything? https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32469291-Equip-XB7-Technicolor-CGM4331COM-Arris-TG4482-Wireless-AX-Wi-Fi-69.5KViews0likes3CommentsInternet unstable
OK, so my connection for while has been super unstable. its been going on for 3 months and the problem hasn't got away. My connection would out of nowhere stop and then continue again. I've already tried to restart my modem even tho just a few days ago I upgraded to the gigablast connection and I have had cox doing troubleshoots which would fix it for a bit but it would just start all over again. Also when it disconnects it would show that IPv6 is disconnect and rarely it would also show that IPv4 is not connected. I would really like to know what's happening because I can't go on for 5 minutes without the internet just disconnecting for 2-10 seconds. My desktop is also connected via ethernet cable and the rest are wireless.2.3KViews0likes1Comment
