Upgraded this week and I am using the provided panoramic modem from cox. [Docsis 3.1] Drop from road directly to the modem no splitters. This is confusing because i'm the only user on my street with internet.... [rural area] [Upload is 35 which is what it is supposed to be] All connections are strictly Ethernet. When first I subscribed to Gigablast, my download speeds from the modem ranged around 750-850mbps. Over the last year, I've noticed it has slowed. Over the past 90 days or so, its dropped to 350 to 550. I have contacted tech support four times to learn the problem. I eventually get cut-off on both chat and speaking over the phone...and nothing gets resolved. I specifically asked if I'm being 'throttled' but they tell me they don't do that. There have been no equipment changes and, other than an occasional firmware update for the mesh router, nothing else has been altered here. Is there a secret handshake, a tip jar or bribe account anybody may know about to get Tech Support to actually help?Solved2.5KViews1like10CommentsRidiculously low download speed (8 MBS) in the evening for Internet Gigablast since last week
I've signed up for Gigablast a few months back andthe service was fineuntil last week. Every day since then, I get ridiculously low download speeds of 5-10MBS in the evening (after 6 PM) with the D/L speed picking up gradually after 11PM. Mornings or during the day, the speed is as expected (around 100MBS) All my tests were done with a couple of laptops wired directly into the modem (Arris Surfboard SB8200), no router was involved. I'm pretty sure that the modem is not the problem otherwise I'd have the same experience during the day. What could cause this? I live in a condo and I think that thewiring is split between the 4 adjacent apartments. Could it be that a neighbor (or more) has recently signed up for the Gigablast and is literally drying up the bandwidth before it gets to my place???Solved2KViews0likes9CommentsGigablast in Pensacola, FL
I was excited to see that Gigablast was finally available in my area (Pensacola, Florida). I get 300 down or so with the Ultimate package, so I was excited to see what I'd get with Gigablast. I wentand bought a new Arris SB8200 modem, headed home, and called Cox to make the change. They wouldn't honor the $99 price I saw online, so I ended upgrading myself online for the special deal that was displayed when I loggedin, and then called back to activate the new modem. Once everything was ready to go, I connected to the Internet and did a Speedtest. 180 down. Wait, what? I got 300 down previously. Just minutes ago. So the Cox rep asked me to power cycle the modem and my networking equipment (my wifi is Eero Pro 802.11ac mesh network and works very well). After doing all that, we got worse results. It was late and I said I'd call back the next day if the issues continued. Today I went and took back the Arris SB8200 modem to Best Buy and bought a Netgear CM1000 instead - just for giggles to see if it'd work any better. So, I called Cox, had the rep activate the new modem, installed it, restarted everything, ran Speedtest and... 82 down. Are you kidding me?!? The rep actually said to me "Please give the modem a while to work. Sometimes it takes them a while to come online fully." I just started laughing and said I'd call back. Now, I've supposedly got Gigablast, but I'm getting worse speeds than I got on Ultimate. I've tried 2 different modems, different coax lines, different Cat 6 cable, using wifi and not using wifi, etc. Still sucky speeds. AT&T is coming soon with their stuff and it's looking much more attractive now...1.7KViews0likes2CommentsGigablast Speed issues
I am certainly hoping someone has run into the same issues that I am having cause I am running out of options. I have the gigablast service and even when I am using a wired connection the best speed I can get is around 700 Mbps down however my upload speeds are usually just fine. I am running an HP Spectre x360 convertible (2017 edition) and am using a USB-C to RJ45 adapter. Also even when I connect using wireless the best that I can get is around 450 down and around 400 up. I am fully aware the wireless will be slower. I am using an Araknis router and Araknis gigabit access point. I have checked everything and everything seems to be running fine yet I have no idea why I can't get download speeds up around 900 consistently. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.1.3KViews0likes1CommentCox Gigablast is awful
I have had nothing but problems since "upgrading" to Gigablast. I have an AC5400x MU-MIMO Tri-Band Gaming Router and an ARRIS SB8200 modem. I am currently using Cox rented Panoramic modem because I was trying to troubleshoot my speeds (the modem was not the issue). I receive the same speeds using a Cox rented modem. Tonight I can't do anything on the internet because my download speed is at 10mbps...yup... ONE ZERO (10). Gigablast says speeds up to 980mbps download. I know I probably won't get near that but this is ridiculous. Since upgrading my speeds have consistently been between 100-480mbps. Even in the dead of night at 3-4am nothing higher than 500mbps. I am going to have a tech come out to my house and see what they say. If they say I'm receiving gigabit speeds from the street I'm going back to Cox's Ultimate package cause Gigablast is trash. https://imgur.com/a/awdAlcQ1KViews0likes2CommentsGigablast Operating at 1/3 of Advertised Speed
On Friday I upgraded my internet to Gigablast. Prior to this effort I have been operating using the hardware listed below. I have reset my modem and router, butI am observing download speeds of approximately 1/3 of the advertised speed. PERFORMANCE: - Download: 38.4 Mbps - Upload: 29.6 Mbps HARDWARE: - Modem: SBG8300 (DOCSIS 3.1, 4x1 Gbps Ports) - Router: Negear Nighthawk AX4300 (Capable of 4.3 Gbps) - Network Cabling: Cat6 - Device network adapter capability: 867Mbps What should I do to achieve the advertised speeds?809Views1like7CommentsUpload Speeds on Gigablast Account???
I recently "upgraded" to Gigablast from my former Ultimate/Unlimited account. Even before the upgrade, which only seemed to last for 24 hours then back to unusable upload speeds, the upload speed was typically 200ish Kilobytes/second to 1.5mbps. These upload speed make it impossible to play video games like Destiny or to upload gameplay videos to YouTube. I have been with Cox for about 11 years and this issue has been consistent. I have had multiple technicians come and tell me the problem is fixed then the next day it is right back to sub 1mbps upload speeds. 1 Gigabit download is useless if the upload speed is so slow it makes many internet-based activities unusable.770Views0likes3CommentsWho here thinks the 1280GB cap is ludacrous?
How is it that the highest paying customers of the ultimate tier are limited to 1280GB per month? This cap should be at least 3TB if not lifted all together. In the world of online gaming and 4k media streaming this is abysmal. A single video game download is almost over 100GB these day. Cox needs to fix up if you want to retain your customers before something better comes along. Right now you're riding a wave because customers are stuck without better ISPs in certain areas of Orange County. Super annoyed with Cox.😠483Views0likes0Comments
