Wildly different internet speeds / slow
We have been having problems with our internet speed for a couple weeks. We have been experiencing lag and wildly different internet speed (based on sped tests). We have probably spent 20 hours with cox trying to fix it and have had two techs out in a week. Yet, throughout this process we decided to increase our speed to a gigablast and purchased a new modem to support the speed. When wired on a dell laptop our speed tests are 800,160 and then 230 all within 10 minutes and when it’s wireless (phones on MacBook) we get between 20 and 30 megabytes according to speedtest.net and coxs speed test. Our google mesh readings show speeds closer to 800ish but performance reflects the lower numbers. The first tech we had said when he tested there was no issues he could see for speed and that our problem was the google mesh routers. We have worked with google and they say there could be a problem but the problem is really with the speed and until we can get the hardwired speed more regular they can’t help. We had another tech out tonight and he said the tests he performed were fine and his readings were 800-900. he said we needed to find another device to do a hardwired test on it was probably our laptop as he didn’t show any problems. I have ordered an adapter for my Mac to run some additional speed tests but does this sound right?? When I have talked to cox on the phone they say there is a weak signal hence why they keep sending techs out. I am so frustrated because we have spent so much time on this, I can’t get anyone to help us other than telling us our equipment is faulty and I am paying for speeds we aren’t getting.747Views0likes2CommentsInternet Speed Capped to 100 Mbps
I have been a Cox customer for about 10 months and within the last month I moved and transferred my service. Every since then, I have been unable to obtain download speeds higher then 100 Mbps. I have been paying for Gigablast the entire time and I also pay for unlimited data. I have contacted multiple support representatives and I have not gotten a clear answer as to why this is happening. Most tell me that it is my equipment that is causing the issue and that I should contact the manufacturer. They have even stated that if my equipment wasn't the issue, then there wasn't anything else Cox could or would do for me on this issue. I am using an Arris SB 8200 that is just about 11 months old and a new Amplifi Mesh WiFi system that is less then 2 months old, all of which where working just fine until I moved into this new place. But never the less I have contacted both of them and they can not find anything wrong with their equipment. With that in mind, I reset both to factory settings twice in the last month and I still am not able to download anything faster then 100 Mbps. The last service representative I spoke with scheduled a technician to come out to my home to attempt to resolve the issue. I am skeptical that this will work because when I asked what the tech will do during the appointment, the representative said " hopefully they can fix it, if not they will just have to run it up the ladder and escalate it." They said they had the same problem at there home and that the technician could not resolve it so they have just been dealing with it. So now I will just get to wait and see what happens on Thursday. Hopefully someone can offer up a solution a solution other just then dealing with it, or down-grading my internet package.4.5KViews0likes13CommentsArris SB8200 Firmware Update / Download Speed Issue
Hello - I activated a new SB8200 today with Cox. In reviewing the firmware, it appears that the modem does not have the latest firmware update applied. That said, I also understand that Cox controls which firmware is actually applied to the device once it is on their network. So, I'm looking for the answer to a couple of quesitons: What the the latest approved firmware version for the Arris SB8200 modem on Cox's network? Mine is runningAB01.01.009.27_081619_183.0A.NSH If a more recent firmware has been approved, how long does my modem have to be online before it will pick up the latest firmware and apply it? I bought this new modem (along with a brand new TP-Link AX6000 router) in an attempt to improve my download speed. However, I'm finding that the speed is not improved any from the previous setup (which was the Cox-provided Panoramic WiFi modem). I am a Gigablast customer and this modem is listed as "Gigablast compatible". I'm getting around 200-300Mbps down on average. In reviewing the modem's event log, I also notice several "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync" messages. Not sure if that's relevant or not to this issue. I have chatted and called tech support and they said to contact Motorola, which I did, who said to talk to Cox.... I have a MB8600 and just switched to gigablast. I am able to get 500-650 on speedtests most of the time but looking at the connection status on the modem channels 21-32 are not locked and thte ODFM is -43 on the power. From what I have been reading others with the issues had filters somewhere on the line, but from the inside of my house, it's direct from the wall into the modem. I have been doing the tests directly plugged into the modem with a cat 6 and 2.5 gb ethernet card. Are these channels just not used, or am I missing something? Maybe 600 is the best I can get... I bought new equipment and upgraded to Gigablast (Docsis 3.1) but my speed didn't improve. I was on Ultimate and got around 180Mbps, I'm getting about the same with Gigablast. I had a technician come out to test the line, he plugged his device directly into the Cox outlet and showed he was getting around 940Mbps so I figured it was my equipment and I returned it and bought different equipment but I'm having the exact same results. I now have the Arris SB8200 modem and it is directly plugged into the Cox outlet, no splitters or anything. I spoke to Cox agents who ran remote diagnostics on my line and according to them they don't see any issues. I'm thinking this might have some to do with the power of the signal coming from the green pedestal outside. Maybe the device the technician uses requires less power than a modem? Problem is, since I bought my own equipment the technician didn't want to test it. Right now I'm considering hiring Cox equipment just to prove that it's something with the line. Do you have any advice for me?3.3KViews0likes3CommentsIssues with Gigablast
I recently upgraded from the Ultimate Internet packet to Gigablast. I purchased an Arris SB8200 and the DOCSIS 3.1 is not working. It's failing back to DOCSIS 3.0 and giving me the ultimate speeds. I check the event logs and finding the below failures. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3-10-2018, 12:17:8 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 3-10-2018, 12:15:55 Notice(6) "TLV-11 - unrecognized OID;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 1-1-1970, 0:0:39 Warning(5) "DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response ;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 1-1-1970, 0:0:37 Notice(6) "Honoring MDD; IP provisioning mode = IPv4" 1-1-1970, 0:0:29 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 3-10-2018, 12:14:32 Critical(3) "Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow" 3-10-2018, 11:54:38 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 1-1-1970, 0:0:29 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 3-10-2018, 11:44:2 Critical(3) "Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow" 3-10-2018, 11:30:28 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 1-1-1970, 0:0:29 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" 3-10-2018, 11:27:56 Critical(3) "Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow" 3-10-2018, 11:17:51 Critical(3) "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=2c:95:69:5c:bb:81;CMTS-MAC=00:1e:be:ff:3c:b4;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" Internet is operational, but only getting around 300 mbs. I called support and they have reset my modem a couple times, still no joy. They want to send a tech out but curious if this is a provisioning issue that can be solved without a tech coming out.
