Is there an alternate way to end service for a deceased customer WITHOUT taking the death certificate in to a store in person?
My grandmother died in November and I've tried to cancel her service many times but they require me to go to the store and bring a death certificate. ATT didn't even need me to go to a store and said if a death certificate was needed I could mail it in. Not an option here. So, service has never been disconnected but the last time it was used in that house was November 2017 and now they want to charge over $700. It seems they don't understand that I've had far more important things to do than take off more work to take the cable company a death certificate for a 91 year old woman that died in November of last year. What the hell am I going to lie about a thing like that for? What could I possibly gain by lying to them about her death? Just turn the cable off and let me mail the certificate if you need it so bad.
