    Even if I purchase the cable box from Cox? Would Cox sell me a cable box?

    We wouldn't, actually. Sorry. You can purchase a CableCard-compatible device such as a TiVo and we would rent the CableCard needed to authorize it, but we wouldn't provision a full receiver from outside a system and wouldn't normally sell a receiver within a system.
