Cox Cable Service (On-Demand) Inconsistent
Never mind that Cox cannot ever get the On-Demand service to work (I will be requesting a refund for your failure to provide services), but the On-Demand channels offered between my downstairs cable box (which is a DVR) and upstairs cable box (which is not a DVR) are different - an example being TBS. TBS is an option on my downstairs box (not that it matters, since Cox in Omaha cannot seem to get the service to ever work), whereas it is not an option on my upstairs box. What kind of operation is Cox running when they cannot even keep their services synchronized properly? Has anyone else in the Omaha-Metro area run into this problem?1.6KViews0likes1CommentHow would I connect a separate phone to my Cable modem?
We have the premium phone service and our main phone system (if you will) is a typical cordless with several handsets. We have a wall mount phone like the one in the attached photo that we'd like to add. I recall our install technician stating that a second phone/system could not be used but he didn't elaborate. Looking at the back of the modem though, there is a port to connect a second line so I don't understand why I can't add that wall mounted phone. If you believe it's possible, what steps/devices do we need to add it? Here is an illustration of the back of the modem: Here's the wall mount phone we need to add: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/9e/11/aa/9e11aa9e79bb07ca9b964fd09f102a34.jpg10KViews0likes3CommentsMove Cable Box to Another Room
Can someone tell me how to move the cable box to the port in another room? I'm not willing to waste the time and money for a tech to come out for this fast fix...especially since I'm still trying to get a credit for the triple-charge they stuck me with last time.6.4KViews0likes1CommentNo Caller ID on television
I've had Cox service for 18 years, including Internet, cable and phone services and almost every service has become defective. Assistance at Cox has become terrible and they don't fix anything anymore. I just found out that Cox has been overcharging me for years on my phone service and they only just now gave me a large credit because a government oversight committee had been investigating Cox. Then I found out that Cox had given me a shoddy DVR box that is out of date and not even manufactured any more and I don't even have DVR service and machine was recording TV shows and wouldn't stop even though I didn't have the service. Cox support over the phone told me I couldn't get a different box. It finally started clicking loudly with a wining sound and I took it back to the Cox retail store to replace it with a non DVR cable box. Now, the caller ID doesn't show on my TV and there is no caller ID listed in the remote settings. A cox chat tech said he would fix it by resetting my modem. He never reset anything after hanging up on the chat. This is how a multi-billion dollar corporation treats its long time loyal customers.3.6KViews1like1CommentHow Many Have Discovered Their New Boxes Aren't New?
Okay, this post is more ranting than anything else but it does have a sound basic question. I spent the last few weeks of April having constant problems of being unable to access On Demand. Either there were no past programs available or I kept receiving messages that OD wasn't available and to check back later. It took several calls to so-called "technicians" before someone said that I shouldn't have to refresh the box each time I wanted to view OD. They arranged to have a technician come out to the house. A real "class" dude! Tromped through the house with his dirty boots really angering my wife. Then, he had an attitude. Did his thing outside and said he'd "check back" if it didn't get better. Never did "check back"! I finally got someone on the phone who went through endless apologies and told me I needed to get a new box. Had the choice of having someone else clomp through the house or going to the Cox Store. We made the mistake of doing the latter, waiting in a poorly designed, and crowded place with no seats for disable like me. We then had someone gladly give us a "new" box - all neatly shrink-wrapped and everything! How neat! Took it home, hooked it up - and learned it was not, as the salesman told me, ready to go as the settings were already in the system. Had to go through the entire set up again. Then - it lasted TWO WHOLE DAYS before taking a dump! Out of nowhere, without any warning, it just stopped. Dead as a doornail. Unplugged and let it set for 15 minutes. Fired up, went through the boot, and it worked just fine - FOR ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES. Since then, absolutely nothing,. I goes through "boot" and shows that weird - ∩ U - think and about 10 seconds of the on-screen thing. Then, all it shows if four vertical lightning bolts. Nada. Zip. Zilch. So, what choice to I have but to disconnect the blasted thing and try to hook that big mother TV directly to the cable? Fought to move the blasted thing and connected the cable to the back of the TV. Wow! Two whole channels strong enough to play on the set - CBS and ABC. Everything works find on the set in my bedroom. At least I learned I can watch some shows online here on my desktop PC. Think they're gonna make me pay for a full month of TV service?2.2KViews0likes1CommentDVR resets itself once/twice an hour
Hello, My DVR has started resetting itself. It makes a clicking noise and then DVR display panel goes blank, says "boot," goes blank again, displays the time as 12:00, and then displays the correct time. I'm not sure how or why it is doing it, any suggestions? Thanks!4.5KViews0likes4CommentsContour Not As Much Fun As It's Hyped Up To Be
The Contour boxes are not as user friendly as the regular HDTV recorders. There is not an option to click on a show that is currently playing and search for future episodes to record. You must go to search and type in the name to search. Every. Single. Time. You. Want. To. Search. Something. This alone makes for a bad experience if you're used to the ease of the "old" HDTV recorders. I love the ability to add users and customize the experience. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being able to record 6 shows at one time, but there are still some user interface issues that should be addressed before Cox gives these out to customers without a warning. The warning being: Your whole experience is about to change, for good and bad. My husband is not techie and the Contour experience is definitely different from a "normal" TV user's way of recording, watching, handling the DVR List, and search and save options.3.2KViews0likes5Comments
