We're looking to move into a house and noticed it doesn't have any cable outlets. How much would it cost to install one in the living room for a modem?

There's not a single one in the whole house! I don't know if they never had internet or...something else I guess. There aren't any phone outlets either.

Old house or new?  It's neighborhood may not have a coaxial system but instead a fiber-optic system.

No phone outlets (RJ11) is weird.

You can research types of cabling via zip on this site.  Ignore the ad at the top of the list.  Look at Connection for each probider.  Cable = Coaxial

It's an older house that's been totally remodeled. The neighborhood is a bit older too

If you have a realtor, put 'em to work researching why no communications.  An easy tell would be walking the outside looking for a Network Interface Device bolted onto the house.  Do you know what this would look like?
