I'm truly at my wits and either COX, I cannot Express my disdain for this company in words. I have not been able to use Shareplay on my PS4 since being graced with this ISP. I have called and talked to multiple COX reps about my issue and none can help me so naturally into to my networking friend and Google for help, and when I say I've tried everything we could come up with, we've tried everything, port forwarding/triggering(got port numbers from sony), DMZ, swapped routers (tried 2 Cox issued modems and then purchased my own modem/router combo by netgear, I can provide model numbers when I get home if it helps) i tried a static IP but i don't think I ever got it to work correctly and I tried bridging my modem to my linksys router and they just successfully exploded the net and I had to set everything to factor and start again, I'm hardwired with CAT6 eilthernet cables, now with my personal modem I AM clocking constantly higher speeds than the issued modem but i still cannot use shareplay, its beyond frustrating, I have PS plus and both my friend and I have speeds WAY over the required. I tried to ask for help on Cox Twitter and they were worst than the phone representatives believe it or not. I did see a post up here of someone having a similar issue 10-11months ago and they resolved it by getting their own modem, I'm curious if it worked for them because it wasn't a modem/router combo or if it was before Cox started blocking ports I assume its cause port 80 is blocked which would explain why my port forwarding and DMZ didn't work, if Cox isn't sending the signal at all,opening the ports wouldn't do anything anyway but Cox will not tell me for sure if that is the reason or not I have no clue I'm just making a guess based off the googling I did. Does anyone know why it's not working? And maybe if I'm lucky a solution?? Or am I just screwed to never be able to host a shareplay in the state of NV since they are the only ISP here with speeds fast enough to even game on in the first place x.x (which ** cause I'd really love to never use Cox again) I can join shareplay's my friends host but can never host one x.x I'm going to pull my hair out with this. Can they really block a whole feature from everyone?!
I would start by you and your friend enabling the routers to be pingable through the WAN IP and then try to ping each other. Besides that, could you show a screenshot of your portforwarding? Port 80 shouldn't be needed for inbound, only outbound. If outbound port 80 was blocked you wouldn't be able to bring up any websites. Last, is there a document you are following the instructions for?
PS. I don't have a PS4 so feel free to wait for a reply from someone who has and has tried Shareplay.
I'll take any help I can get the! Here ya go, and I'll have to figure out how to get my friend and I to ping each other I'm not feeling confident that it will be successful but nothing ventured, right? Added should be the ports I forwarded well least tried to
If you want help figuring out how to make your router pingable, what model router do you have? Even if you can just test if they can ping you, that would help but it would be better if you can test both ways.
You can find out what public IP (WAN IP) to ping by going to WhatIsMyIP.com. You would need to ping the IP they get from the site and visa versa. Don't post the IP here though for privacy reasons.

Ouch, a gateway. I don't think you can do it with a gateway. So I guess that testing is out.
I think I will drop out of this one and let someone with the same gateway or atleast a PS4 to test with. Good luck though! I will like the thread in hope it gets more views.
A gateway? what does that mean? as in i should probably get a modem that doesnt include a router? cause i have a stand alone router by linksys, i was thinking of taking back the netgear anyways as it was 350$ and i ONLY got it cause i was hopeful that it would help me host a shareplay
A gateway is a another name for a modem/router combo. With those since the modem part is bonded to the router part, there are some settings you can't change. It's hard coded in. Another example is changing your DNS settings, which can't be done on most gateways either.

I can't say it will fix your problem, but it will give you more troubleshooting options. What model Linksys do you have? Maybe that has the option for ping and you can put your gateway (modem/router) in bridge mode and use the Linksys.
Either way, what instructions are you following for port forward? I see some ports in there that aren't the normal ones of TCP 1935, 3478-3480 and UDP 3478-3479.
I'll be able to get the model numbers when I get off work, I know I made sure it was able to run gigabit speeds,I went online to try and find it and couldn't, as far what guides in using for port forwarding. I used this link for the "how to" and got the actual port numbers from Sony when I called them https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-ps4/
Additionally when I that didn't work I tried to just open ports that had inbound communications and if it had worked, the plan was to back track and close 1 at a time and test it till I knew exactly which one was needed and wouldn't just have ports all willy nilly open. And finally if it gives me more troubleshooting options to fix then than I'm all for it, I'll def exchange it for another modem that's on the modem list Cox provides, I'll probably still stick with netgear or Asus
When I talked to Cox support online they said they were not detecting any packet loss, I will try this though
