LisaH​   OP said he has Contour 1 (Cox TV).  That platform doesn't support voice remote, so he won't have one.  There is no error code/message.  Search just finds On Demand episodes only.  This issue previously occurred last December.  A forum user reported first noticing it 12/02/2024.   It was fixed 12/11/2024.  Whatever Cox did then to fix it, do it again, a little quicker maybe since a probable solution should already be known.
