Very slow upload speeds (download is fine)

Sounds like this isn't an unusual occurrence, but we've had very slow upload speeds for the past few days here in Pensacola, FL. Per our Google Wifi log, it dropped from 20 Mbps to 2 Mbps on 12/26. Today and yesterday, multiple speed tests (through Cox's website and otherwise) show a download >300 Mbps but upload of 0.6 to 0.3 Mbps. This is through both wired (modem and router are right next to my desktop) and wifi connections. We don't have any splitters installed, and the cable modem is the only device we have plugged in to any cable outlet. The house and neighborhood themselves are <2 years old.

Called support yesterday, and the tech initially said he saw the problem and was having trouble communication with our modem. After he sent the reboot signal, he said he was seeing ~30 Mbps upload speeds, but it also was still "in and out." There was a service message/outage in our area yesterday morning, so he thought it may be relating to that as well, despite the outage apparently having been resolved. He also suggested that we try replacing the modem (which is about 8 months old) or have a tech come out for a look.

I've checked with other folks in our neighborhood, and it's definitely not just our home that's been affected.

Aside from trying to contact support again, any other suggestions we might try?

We like to take a look at your modem's performance levels. Please email your full name and address to cox.help@cox.com so we can take a look.

Will do. At work right now, but will see if I can pull the signal levels when I get home. It just seems odd that it's started all of a sudden (we haven't changed our setup at all) and seems to be affecting neighbors as well.

      Edit: just sent the email.

They replied and let me know there are "intermittent signal issues" in the area that are being worked on, and that may be causing the slow upload speed. I've had a few neighbors comment about it as well.

I've had a few different errors in my event log very early this morning (i.e., midnight to 0100) also. I'll see if I can summarize them below, without the MAC address to hopefully make it more legible:

      • Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out
      • Unicast DSID PSN startup error
      • Dynamic Range Window violation
      • TLV-11 - unrecognized OID
      • DHCP WARNING - Non-critical field invalid in response
      • No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
      • SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing
      • Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow
      • REG RSP not received
      • DHCP FAILED - Request sent, No response
      • DHCP FAILED - Discover sent, no offer received

The last time I had a string of these types of errors was back in mid-November, and then again back in mid-October.

      Not sure if that's helpful.

I have  1 gig and a lot of times my upload speed will decrease to just horrible on Cox Site testing. Please try a Speed test and change the server to a fiber optic/Fast ISP in your area. I am in Oklahoma and I use OEC test sight 9 times out of 10 I get a whole different reading when not using Cox sever and my upload speed is fine, it's just Cox's testing thats Bad.
