Trouble adding a Cox pop email account to Microsoft Office 361 Outlook

I have used Outlook under Office 365 with Cox for my ISP for years with little or no troubles. However, now I am trying to add a new POP email account from Cox.net but find that things have changed in the procedures I used in the past for doing so but I can't get it added to Outlook. Cox Webmail shows I can send and receive email from any of my existing Outlook accounts and likewise from Webmail.

Are there some special procedures for adding the account to Outlook?

I am using the incoming  server pop.east.cox.net on port 110

and

for the outgoin server smtp.east.cox.net on port 25 with My outgoing server requires authentification.

I will truly appreciate any help on this pesky, important problem.

  • Hi Jsquareg. There is no special procedure, however, the port numbers you are using are no longer available. For the incoming server, use pop.cox.net, port 995 and for outgoing server use smtp.cox.net, port 465. We recommend you use Imap especially if you are using this same email address on other devices. That way, you can see the same information across all devices and when you delete it on one device, it updates all devices.
