Technicolor CGM4141 reset button..what should it look like?

A friend of mine (in Abbeville, Louisiana) would like to reset her Technicolor CGM4141 modem. But the reset button location looks like it has a small ball in it, instead of a recessed button in a hole. Is this ball a plug to prevent the user from accessing the button inside the modem? Or do some of these units have a reset button that sticks out of the case? Pictures of them and the manual all say the button is recessed inside a hole. But this one doesn't look like that. Does anyone know how to reset this unit? Many thanks in advance.

PS She wants to do a reset that will clear the wifi settings and go back to factory default. Unfortunately you can't do that with the app, as she can't connect to the wifi in the first place.

I don't know about the looks of a ball but perhaps that's her subjective description of what it looks like.  If it's recessed, it's the Reset switch.

Her description of it is that it's not recessed, but protrudes above the surface of the case. It is definitely located where the reset switch is, below the coax connector.

How can we access the modem settings?

I don't think a modem has settings but this particular modem is also a wireless router.  You can go to the following link and navigate to the Personalize Your Wifi Experience section for instructions to manage the router.

If she definitely found the reset button and its sticking out, it's probably broken and may not work anyway.  She could fully depress it until it stops inside the chassis to attempt a reset.

If it's broken, it's no big deal because she's renting it anyway.  Just go to the Solution Store and freely exchange it.

The option to default the modem to its factory settings is in the menu of the modem?

Are you distinguishing between Cox sending a reset signal to the modem and a factory reset of the modem?

This may help.  Tell her to look at the very bottom or its rear.
