Hi Antony, for the best results, we highly recommend gaming on a hard-wired (Ethernet) connection, as this provides greater stability. What games do you normally experience packet loss with? Do you experience issues when doing other internet-related activities such as streaming movies/TV, or surfing the web? -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

Kevin,
thanks for the reply. I do game on a direct ethrenet connection to my router. I experience packet loss with Fortnite and call of duty, rocket league, many others. I actually get a better connection by connecting to my iPhone hotspot and playing online that way. Any insight you have is appreciated. I upgraded to the 300/35 plan and also got the Cox panoramic wifi modem/router, same issue persists. I considered gigablast, but then my bill would have gone from $60 to $120, all so I can have basic internet service.

- KevinM25 years agoFormer ModeratorAntony, are you using a separate router in addition to the Panoramic WiFi? In other words, are you using two routers or only the Panoramic WiFi? Can you please provide traceroutes/PingPlotters on a hard-wired connection to the Gateway, so we can have them reviewed? Fluctuations in latency within connecting networks outside of Cox’s network (gaming servers), is beyond the scope of our support. However, if packet loss and/or latency shows up on our network, then this may have to be escalated. I am not detecting any packet loss on your modem at this time. -Kevin M.
