Not Receiving New Emails To My Cox Account

Greetings.

I have 2 Cox email accounts, one for me (xxxxxxxx@cox.net) and one for my wife (yyyyyyy@cox.net).  Her account is fine. We can send an email to her account and we can see it come in, via the Cox Webmail browser interface, or her Windows Live Mail interface.   But if anyone sends any email to  "xxxxxx@cox.net account" nothing shows up. I have PLENTY of space left in the mailbox as far as I know. I try my Windows Live mail login and the Cox Webmail browser app, but it has been almost a day now of sending test emails to that address, and nothing has come through, the Inbox (and all others) are empty. I don't believe this is a problem with my home computer, my computer-literate neighbor has been checking my account also, and he sees nothing coming in.  Is there something that can be done at the Cox end to clear/kickstart/reset the xxxxxx@cox.net email account so it receives and displays incoming emails again?

Thanks.

Just a heads up... unless you like receiving spam, it's really not a good idea to post your email address in this forum.

I know, I know, but I can't get a straight answer from the first line of defense at Cox, all they told me was, "Well, if you purchase our $10 a month Home Coverage, then we can help you!". After 25 years being a customer, fix my problem!

Okay, I went back and changed the email addresses I wrote of in the original post... :)

It's probably a typo, but you included the word "account" inside the quotes which would make it invalid.  If someone used that as the email address, that would be a reason why the email is not delivered.

For help with a specific Cox email account, you should contact cox.help@cox.com.

Another note, this problem started happening sometime after 12/06/2019 at approximately 3:00 PM EST. I have received NO emails in my Inbox since then for my account.

  • @Mtommasi, Are your test messages bouncing back with any error messages? -Allan, Cox Support Forums Moderator.

Hi, Allan. No, no bounce back error emails. But just checked again, and still no new emails in the Inbox (or Spam or anywhere else), even though my neighbor sent a few.

SOLVED: Neighbor spoke to knowledgeable Cox Tech, was informed that somehow (hack?) his email address had been "forwarded" to a different email address. Situation was fixed.

Get rid of cox. They are probably the worse company to deal with. I have been a valued customer for 15 years years. Big deal.

Get rid of cox. I was a valued customer for 15 years and lately when I have problems it is always my fault. Then they go into their book of excuses. It is amazing how many different answers I get when I call. As soon as I can transfer everybody to a gmail account for email it is goodbye cox. One person recently sent me 3 emails which I never received. Not in spam folder and I saw the person's sent folder and it was there but never made it to my email. Go Figure.

Hi Beeboo, are you obtaining your emails on myemail.cox.net, or are you using a client-server such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail to retrieve your emails? -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

myemail.cox.net. cox is aware of the problem and they will fix whenever. In the meantime I have never deal with a worse company than cox. Then they have the gaul to say thank you for being a valued customer for 15 years. Yeah right.
