Not getting the speed I'm paying for.

I have the High Speed Ultimate package that gives 300Mbps/Down and 30Mbps/Up. I'm getting the advertised upload speed of 30Mbps but i'm not even getting 1/3 of the download speed. I'm only getting 80Mbs on average with 90Mbs at the highest.

I have an Arris Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Modem with an Asus AC5300 Router.

I'm testing speeds through a wired connection. Going directly from the router to my PC. Wireless is even slower but that's to be expected of a wireless connection. The issue is that I'm not even getting a third of the speed i'm paying for over a wired connection.

    armolas,

We would like to have you test the connection at the modem itself. Would you please bypass your router & plug into the modem for testing. Once you do this, please reset the modem before you run your speed test. So that we can see your results, would you log into cox.com to run your speed test & let us know once it is done. We will need to access you account at that time. Would you send us an email to cox.help@cox.com with your full name & full address once you are able to run the test at the modem?

  • @armolas,

Thanks for sending the requested information. We will be responding to your email shortly.

    Thanks,

I have had speed issues with cox for over7  years.  right now my DL is 140 to 155 Kpbs (not Mbps)  I reported them to FCC about 6 weeks ago and I urge anyone with these problems to do the same.  Maybe if FCC gets enough complaints they will force COX to do something about this.  Tell me they are working on it.  Loaned me the Panasonic modem router to see if that is any better.  NOT, just got worse.

I can't even stream anything to my TV as the speed says it is to slow.
