I understand what you're saying and have no issue with you marking your own replies as the solution, because of your solid reputation. My reasoning for not wanting unfamiliar OPs from being able to mark their own reply as the solution is to prevent what you mentioned and to provide assurance that profile stats accurately indicate an individual's contributions.
I understand your position. We've submitted these suggestions to leadership. Although I cannot guarantee, implementation, they will be read.

How exactly did you submit the ideas and who exactly is "leadership"? Not like their names of course, but do you mean you Team Leader/Supervisor? Do you have a suggestion box? Is it a email you send somewhere? I asked my issue to be escalated for several years and the moderators basically said "we are the supervisors" and refused to tell me what happened. You guys still either have a back door into your system or a employee who is using their power to push a private agenda.

Whoever leadership is, I think their decision process is binary. Whether action is to be taken will be the opposite of the answer to the question "Will this cost money"? If this was revenue generating, the binary decision would be the same as the answer to "Will this generate revenue"? But a community forum doesn't make Cox any money.
