DVR playback issues
Recordings on my DVR randomly, loose sound, picture freezes, and or gets very pixelated. Then it jumps forward what seems like close to 10-20 seconds, sometimes more. I try to FF though it and sometimes that helps, sometimes not. I have attempted to connect not one but 2 new laptops to my WiFi. No matter where I go with them they will not find my WiFi but can find every neighbors WiFi for 3 blocks. I plugged in an extender and was able to click on it and enter my password and this brand new laptop out of the box says my cox service is paused and directs me to the app to unpause, so the laptop magically recognizes it is cox and not some other provider, which leads me to believe it’s not the laptop. Spent 3 hours or more starting with messaging asking me if my other devices had service as if I was brand new and didn’t know how the internet works and hadn’t read every troubleshooting prior to contacting them after fully explaining the problem when they were fully capable of checking the account, then being passed from department to department around the world and no one not even a supervisor could figure it out. 1 of the customer service reps seemed to understand the situation but did not have a solution and the rest seemed to be struggling just to grasp the English language. We reset each device multiple times again and they sent me to the store to replace the laptop or ask geek squad. Well I cannot replicate my home WiFi in the store. It doesn’t pack up and travel well. Even hardwired it is blocking new laptops from connecting. I did get a second laptop and have the same situation. Nothing is on the list to unpause yet all devices tell me to contact cox to unpause them. I have tried every setting I know of and not one Representative has a solution or is willing to submit a ticket or escalate the issue for resolution. I need to be able to connect new devices as old devices need replacement. Working from home issues
Hi - I work from home and often have calls drop with our phone provider Hunter. They sent me suggestions of things to check for and have no clue where to start. When reaching out to support, he told me our internet looked fine, reset the modem and then tried to upsell me on internet that would cost me $200+ a month. Suggestions from Hunter Phones: I believe it is a (SIP) signaling issue. A soft phone can be up and registered but may be missing the signaling that allows it to pick up calls. This could indicate an issue with the user's home network. Possible causes ISP (internet service provider) provided routers often have ports blocked and SIP ALG enabled. SIP ALG enabled or any other special firewall rules on the home router. IP addresses blocked by routerfirewall. A firewall on the computer. A VPN connected back to the work network. A DMZ on the router. A wireless internet connection - if it is wireless can it be hard wired to the router. Any help with how to troubleshoot would be amazing! I have a brand new TP link BE 3600 router and an Arris SB8200 modem. I have been only getting an average of 20-30mbps download speed. I have gigablast. I reset the modem via the cox app, and for a short time get 900mbps + download and 100mbps+ upload. This lasts for a few moments then right back to 20-30mbps. New router, multiple resets, no change. I've been without internet for over 24 hours now with two high school kids that attend school online. Nobody can give me an estimates restore time/date, either. Funny thing is, the businesses close to my home (less than a quarter of a mile away) that have cox are having no issues. What the hell is going on and when is it going to be fixed? My family went without internet and phone for 6 days after the last hurricane here in Florida. That was less than 2 weeks ago. Everyone else I know never lost internet but almost a week after we still went without. Now today one day before even a larger hurricane I have NO internet again. So my family has no tv to watch the news, no home phone to use incase of an emergency and really no trust we will have any connection soon. to do this to people one day before a Huge Hurricane is just no right. This is a safety issue at this point. Cox is how we get TV so what the heck, we are changing this was the last straw for our family. The service is and has not been reliable, Nor any more fast than Centrylink I have at work. Actually our centrylink at work (3miles for home) has not missed one second of connectivity. When attempting to read and/or send emails, the "Page Unresponsive" dialog box comes up again and again and again.; it is more than frustrating I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but in my opinion it is being done by Yahoo to coerce the people who transitioned from Cox to subscribe to their Premium service for $1.99 a month. Cox needs to ensure that Yahoo fixes this or pays Yahoo more to provide email service to its previous email customers. I am paying the same to Cox as I did before they stopped supporting email and stopped providing McAfee Security Suite--less service but no less on my monthly bill! This needs to be resolved!
