WiFi
So....Some guy cutting the lawn, ran over the cable for our internet....Had a tech come out and put a new one in. We have ethernet cable to the modem and we have internet on the computer. But, I have no WifI and I have spoken to 4 different techs and they dont seem to understand what Im trying to do. My wifi isnt connecting, the names on the network and wifi have set back to default. And no matter what I try and bring up the wifi to redo it. I have an Ubee Modem and a HP computer with Windows 10....Can anybody tell me how I activate this WIFI, when none of the usernames/passwords work...not even the default ones the techs gave me. It shouldnt be this hard.1KViews0likes1CommentConnecting 2 WiFi Routers to Single Cable Modem
I currently have 1 WiFi router connected to 1 Cable Modem. I purchased new WiFi router and want to connect 2 routers (old & new) to single cable modem. My intent is to have home automation connected to legacy (old) router while tv streaming & computers connected to new router. My question is: Is it possible to connect 2 WiFi Routers to single cable modem?1.1KViews0likes1CommentHow do I change my wifi password... with a twist!
I have a Ubee UVW326 and I know to go to 192.168.100.1 and put in user user... but that doesn't work. No, caps lock is not on. I've also tried the credentials on the side of the modem and I've tried my cox SSID and pw and nothing gives me access. What suggestions do you wisemen have for me?2.1KViews0likes1CommentCannot access IPv4 websites.
I recently changed addresses and upgraded my Cox internet to the Ultimate package. Ever since then, I've been unable to access IPv4 websites through WiFi. I've tried everything from clearing my browser cache, cookies, and restarting my affected devices. The only thing that helped was resetting my router to factory settings, and that only worked for a couple of days. 1st-level Cox phone support has been of no help whatsoever. I know this is an IPv6 issue, because IPv6 sites are the only sites that I can access on my wireless devices (laptop, phone). If anyone knows how to help me resolve my issue, please let me know what you need from me. I've had no luck after 3 calls with Cox over the last 3 weeks and I'm ready to switch ISPs if I can't get this issue resolved.2.1KViews0likes1CommentCurious about Cox Wi-Fi hotspot problems
I'm a new Cox customer after more than a decade in Comcast territory. I rely heavily on the Wi-Fi hotspot network and use one or more different hotspots every day. Since moving to Cox I noticed some strange behavior at coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other places that have Cox service. If a location has their own named, public hotspot I can connect to that and get expected speed/performance. If that same location also is also advertising a CoxWiFi hotspot, I can always get connected to a strong signal, but mostly I have no internet service. In other words, I can see a CoxWiFi hotspot with a strong signal. I can connect to that hotspot, but then I have no actual internet service. This has happened to me in many locations. Again today I am at Bourbon Jacks in Chandler AZ with the same problem. I'm trying to attach an image below, captured from my screen. You'll see the CoxWiFi network, but when I try using that I get no internet access. Switching to the Bourbon Jacks network I get a Cox connection with no problems. Is this normal, expected behavior? If the CoxWiFi isn't working, why is it being advertised? I'm a relatively new Cox internet customer. Had Comcast for 15 years before this. I work from home as a tech consultant, which means that I use WiFi hotspots at bars, restaurants and coffee shops every day. I've noticed some odd (in a bad way) behavior on the Cox hotspots. My computer will automatically log me in to any CoxWiFi hotspot that it finds. Sometimes that works great, but only when there is no obvious native (local) hotspot configured. In other words, if I'm at Joe's Pizza and they have a PizzaFi network (provided by Cox) and they also have a CoxWiFi network, my computer will automatically connect to CoxWiFi. That's what it should do, but 90% of the time I can't actually reach the internet, or if I do, the connection is terribly slow with high latency and packet loss. If I then switch to PizzaFi (probably using the same Cox modem/router) I get a fast, normal internet connection. In a few places I can reliably use either the local named WiFi or the CoxWiFi and both give consistent, reliable speeds. But that's really the exception. In most places with multiple network options I can't use the CoxWiFi because it's so unreliable, even though it offers a strong signal. I don't understand how, or why this would be happening. Does this make sense to anyone?2.2KViews0likes1CommentWifi for TV
My wifi works fine everywhere else in the house except my TV. It was fine until a few weeks ago when it started "buffering" all the time and now won't connect at all. I've tried re-booting the computer, unplugging the modem, turning the whole system off with no result. What else can I try before calling in to customer support?j1.4KViews0likes1CommentNew cable modem, wifi router, telephone service ?
I was having trouble with our Cox supplied Cisco DPQ3925 wifi service combined with voip telephone and high speed internet (100 bps). Every 2-3 days, I would need to unplug everything to reset the wifi. Cox replaced the cable modem router with anew one, but problem continued. Was advised to buy separate wifi router which is now installed and working. (Linksys WRT1900 ACS) but finding that it randomly rejects certain devices that were previously working fine. I thought it might be conflict with Cisco wifi and wanted to disable that function. Was advised by Cox techs that I did not need to disable the wifi on the Cisco, and only choose the wifi on the device and sign in accordingly to either one we wanted. Worried about conflicts there. Question is, should I/can I buy a separate cable modem for high speed internet and split off the Cox modem for only the phone service, or just keep Cox high speed internet and go back to Verizon phone? Constant issues causing too many headaches! What is the ideal configuration and setup for optimum speed and reliability? Thanks for any insights!9.4KViews0likes9Comments
