Download speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50CommentsSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17CommentsCox throttling upload speed to twitch.tv
Im an affliated twitch streamer and its really hard for me to do my hobby/job, because of cox throttling my speeds. Already replaced the coaxial cable making sure there are no bends or damage. My upload speed is supposed to be 10mbps, but its very incosistent. The same problems keeps happening for the past 5 months. I drop frames streaming and the stream is never smooth, just as i was growing. I've already had a Tech out and they resolved the problem for 1 day. Not looking to have another tech out. A lot of other streamers have had problems with cox streaming on twitch. The only conclusion i have is Cox throttling my upload speed.9.2KViews0likes0CommentsSlow upload speeds (download is fine)
I'm on the ultimate package, normally I'm pulling 170ish down and 20 - 25 up. The past couple of days my upload speed has dropped to around 10 - 14 while my download speed remains unaffected, anyone have any ideas why this is? This actually happens in the evening too, around 7pm on towards. However the difference is that my upload speed was fine during the day, but now it's bad all the time. Any ideas whats causing this?7.6KViews0likes10CommentsMe and my girl friend are having issues streaming on cox to Twitch,YouTube,Mixer and Facebook.
So my girl friend is an affiliate on twitch and for the past 6 months we have had issues streaming to twitch we have had several techs come out to the house and do every thing they could from replace the router/modem combo and completely rework the box on the side of our house and replacing all the coax lines. I after 12 days of the issue persisting went out and purchased all new LAN cables with the highest grade possible with gold plated shielding and all around 80 bucks all together. after the first month the issue still didn't disappear matter of fact its been happening every time we stream for more than 2 minutes. Okay so lets get to business and show you modem levels log files and server tests for streaming to show you what i'm dealing with. My current internet plan is the ultimate 300/30 Mbps with unlimited data. Internet plan https://imgur.com/a/spWS9mO modem signals https://imgur.com/a/QgoJgDL Now I do have a theory as to why she and I drop frames and it has to do with upload specific packet loss because when she or I are in a game the network symbol for packet loss appears for a bit as my stream struggles to stay connected, now here are some speed tests supporting this theory because when i'm streaming and take a speed test my upload is fine but I think there might be packet loss on my upstream which causes the dropped frames and unstable connection! https://imgur.com/a/2rSZVqB Okay now for the next test this is a quality test for your upload to the twitch servers mind you need a score above 80 to not drop frames or have issues I will post 3 screen shots showing the test and the max bit-rate I can use without issues aka upload speed, reminder though these are not consistent today the test may show good results and the next day it shows bad results I and today could be one of the good days. The reason I do a 30 second test is because it gives the most ideal and best of your connection. Thats the end of the tests if you can help me find out why I drop frames when I stream to YouTube or Twitch please comment the potential issue.6.8KViews1like4CommentsCox upload speed 1mb with gigablast
Paying for the Gigablast plan and only getting 1 mbps upload speeds. My download speeds are perfect i get up to 960 wired at times, but my upload is not. I've had a technician recently come out and clean up interference from my cable lines and my issues seemed to be fixed temporarily. Ive purchased 2 new modems and had them activated separately and the issue still exist. (Netgear cm1200 and Arris Surfboard SB8200 (which im keeping bc of its compactness) . Ive got another tech scheduled to come out Saturday but i feel like this might be a issue at the cable line source. I asked the live chat agent if he can get someone to check on the signal of the are and he told me the agent he scheduled will work outside. My hopes aren't hi that the person scheduled will actually do any work at the source and will only work on the cable box outside of my house which was recently worked on and currently only has 1 line running into it due to me cutting off my phone line. That cable is connected by 2 or 3 couplers and no splitters. Any help would be appreciated. Ive tested the speeds coming directly from the modem as well. Im starting to think cox is intentionally sabotaging my upload speeds in hopes to get me to pay for the panoramic modem/router which they keep throwing in my face.5KViews0likes13CommentsUpload and Download speeds not meeting standards
Previously, I would have around 10mbps to 15mbps download and 2mbps to 3mbps upload on my network. I am currently paying for the package that is supposed to offer 30mbps down and (I think) 5mbps up. Lately, these numbers have been even worse, coming down to 7mbps down and 1mbps up.4.5KViews0likes11CommentsShaky Upload Speeds
The package that I'm subscribed to is 150down/10up and in the past couple of weeks it's been anything but that. 3mbps up is typically the absolute best I can hope for. Called multiple times and those usually end with the call mysteriously dropping. Reset the modem using the tools in the backend here. Was even told to put cloth on the tip of the coax cable. None of them resulted in a better upload speed. Last night I call and get stuck with the automated service and it restarts the modem like all the other times, but that time I get an upload speed I haven't seen since we upgraded to the package we're on now. So I begin streaming video footage to gaming.youtube.com and shortly afterwards, everything drops and I check the upload speed again and it's back again to the .3 to 3mbps I've come to be disappointed in. I know it says "up to 10", but at this point, what IS the point of the 150/10 service if I can only get 30% of that? Is there anyone who has the same problem or knows how to fix it?3KViews0likes6Commentsvery slow upload speeds
Hello, I have the Ultimate internet package which gives up to 300mbps download and up to 30 mbps upload, but the last few days, ive been getting from .1 to .7 mbps upload speeds. My download speed is fine, 250-350 mbps according to speedtest and I am also using an ethernet connection. I have a netgear r7000 that i just recently updated because I thought that might have been the cause, but nothing changed after the update. Im very lost here, the only explanation i have is that its on Cox's side.2.9KViews0likes2Comments
