SB6141 firmware version?
Hi there, I was on 1.0.6.16 firmware on my SB6141; however after a call today level 2 tech support at COX told me 2 years older version 1.0.6.14 was actually the recommended one and rolled me back. I am curious as to if that was correct? or should I be on the newer one? Also, there is an issue with SB6141 where if upload pipe is saturated the modem will lock up (not reboot, you have to pull power to recover), the issue is well documented and has been happening for over 3 years. Fairly easy to reproduce by just dropping a file onto a service that will saturate it. Like Dropbox or Youtube. Any size file will do, happened yesterday to me with 1 megabyte file dropped in Dropbox. Someone mentioned a new Arris SB6141 firmware 1.0.7 is rolling out soon for Comcast that addresses this issue. Does COX plan to roll out this firmware?1.3KViews0likes1CommentSlow speeds with Motorola SB6141 Modem
I just ran the internet speed tool and got 8Mbps download and 9Mbps upload. I have the Cox Internet Premier package I've checked my account and found that my modem is correctly identified as the equipment that I'm using. However, I've read in this forum that if my account does not properly identify my equipment as DOCSIS 3.0, then the speeds will suffer. Am I able to check and change that on my account myself or does this have to be checked/changed by a Cox representative? I have not yet checked if my modem has the latest firmware update so that may be an issue as well.1.5KViews0likes1CommentSurfboard 6141 modem

I just got a DOSIS 3.0 Modem, speed up to 320Mbps. But the download speed is still around 30Mbps. I used either speed test software or cox speed testing tools and get the consistant result. I use ethernet cables and get the same result as my WiFi, which is 802.11ac. I saw a lot of guys has the same problem. I guess I need to talk to COX before they can adjust my account settings to get 50Mbps speed.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsSB 6141 firmware
I purchased a brand new white Motorola SB 6141 in November. Everything was running great with it until mid to late January. Since then at least once a week the modem reboots itself. Ive had 2 techs out in the last 2 weeks and they say everything is fine with the line. In fact the one that was out today said that the modem has been up for 22 days. I showed him the logs on the modem where there are t4 timeouts and reboots as recent as yesterday. I was told it could be due to the RG59 cabling in my unit. I find this hard to believe since in the 12+ years Ive lived here I can count on 1 hand the number of times Ive had internet issues. Ive read that there is updated firmware available but everyone Ive spoken on the phone says theres no update available. Is the firmware only available to certain regions? I just upgraded my cable modem to an Arris SB 6141 and after three separate calls to provision/activate it, it still does not work. All lights on the modem indicate successful operation and it gets a valid IP Address, it just cannot access the internet. My current guess is that it may be a firmware issue, and I would have thought that the latest firmware would have been pushed by Cox upon activation, but that does not seem to be the case. I'd like to try updating the firmware, and so far have been unable to find anyone at Cox who can/will do this. Here is the information on the firmware (both before and after activation): Model Name: SB6141 Vendor Name: Motorola Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3 Hardware Version: 7.0 Firmware Build Time: Oct 29 2012 18:07:13 I've had to revert back to my old Docsis 2.0 cable modem each time so it is not currently connected.7KViews0likes11CommentsSB6141 Random Drops
Intermittently my SB1641 will reboot. Right before it happens, I get a flurry of Critical Errors on the Modem Log Screen. Mostly: No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out (I'll get about 7 or 8 in rapid fashion, then the reboot) When I called Tech Support the guy admitted that my neighborhood appeared to have about 50% of the Modems offline but could not declare an outage. All my signals and levels appear normal. I have changed our connectors, cables, everything in line to the SB Modem. I even connected directly to the Modem with the same issue. It looks to be a Cox issue but all I can get is we will send a Tech out in 4 days. I need to work from home and have to drive to the local McDonalds to get my work done. Is it worth trying a new Modem before the Tech arrives...not sure what else to do.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsRE: SB6141 Random Drops - Months and no resolution
The original post is locked now so I can't comment on it to mark it is as resolved so I guess I will post my update here. The problem was traced down to voltage on the line and specifically from the router. The tech and I talked for a while and we don't think the router was the initial point of failure. Rather the modem was damage due to voltage which then passed voltage to the modem damaging only the WAN side. In turn, any new modem connected to the router would then be damaged by the now damaged router feeding voltage back. Once we replaced the modem and router one last time, everything worked fine. I sent my modem off for repair and it works fine now as well. So far, everything has been running smooth and I even received a credit from Cox for several months of internet service after filing my BBB complaint. I never heard back from Cox in regards to my BBB complaint and actually filed a second one a few weeks after I was told the original was closed. 2 weeks after the second complaint I saw the credit on my bill but still never contacted directly by Cox.)1.8KViews0likes1Comment
