Hello! I'm usually very good at updating my modem/routers firmware to make sure that I am getting the best connection possible. I am on the Premier plan and my modem gets average 30mbps down and 12mbps up. I'm wondering if there is something you can do on your end to help with my speed improving. If not, can you advise on a new modem/router setup to use. I've seen that you have helped a lot of customers on here, and hope you can help me. Thank you very much, David K.6.9KViews0likes13CommentsExtremely Slow Internet Speeds.
So, for about two months now I have been experiencing extremely slow internet speeds. I am a Cox Premier Plus Member and supposed to get 75mbps Download over 15mbps upload. My speeds for have never seen those speeds since purchasing the Service. I own a docsis 3 modem as-well as a cisco router that are supposed to handle up to 300+300. I've called Cox multiple times to come to a resolution to this ,but my requests have gone ignored for two months. Although I've had 3 technicians 3 supervisors and 2 maintenance associates at my home they have all unmistakably said that the gear at my home is good. No issues with my "drop" nor equipment. I have had multiple phone technicians escalate this issue ,but no one seems to want to resolve this. Why? My question would most likely be, "When would you like for me to cancel my service?" Even though I've been with Cox for over twelve years it seems like the Money I as a customer have put into their pockets is a drop in the hat ,and thats most likely the reason no one wants to help. Is anyone else experiencing this lack of customer service?6.5KViews0likes10Commentsinconsistent speeds, problems with possible throttling
I ran a few speed tests tonight and have found extreme variations in my download speeds. The only place I was able to get the "correct" speed was on the Cox speed test which runs only on the Cox network. Going outside of that network means lower speeds. The other issue I have has been with Hulu. EVERY time I try to watch something on Hulu I end up getting an error stating the network connection was lost. I don't get this type of error with Netflix or Youtube so I have suspicions that Cox is throttling me on Hulu. These tests show that I am not getting the 50Mbps that I am paying for. I have worked for an ISP in the past so I actually do have half a clue here. I ran these tests on my home PC which is connected directly to my modem via an ethernet cable. I realize that the servers these tests were run on could have other traffic at the same time I was conducting my speed tests however it's pretty clear that whenever I connect to a website outside of the Cox network, I do not get the 50Mbps connection. I have no firewall running, my computer is connected directly to my modem (so no wireless is involved here), I am running Windows 7, I have no viruses or malware.....Here are my current modem signals....5.2KViews0likes4CommentsPeculiar Internet Speed Problem
Hello, my internet has been slow recently, however, it is only with downloads and webpages. When i play online games, my ping and connectivity is fine. It started a couple days ago when i put in a second graphics card into my desktop. All webpages are slow to load, or require multiple reloads to get them loaded. For example, playing World of Warcraft and League of Legends is fine, but watching youtube videos and downloading games on steam are very slow. Also, while downloading steam games, the network usage graph goes up suddenly, then goes back down to nearly nothing. I have reset the router, reset my computer, scanned for viruses, checked my motherboard LAN drivers, and tried to find other solutions online. I have also checked speedtest.net and my download and upload speeds are as normal. Also, all other computers in the house are fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this? My specs are: Motherboard: Asrock z77 extreme 4 Processer: Intel i5 3350 Video Card: 2x Radeon HD 7870 OS: Windows 85.1KViews0likes9CommentsInternet Speed Capped to 100 Mbps
I have been a Cox customer for about 10 months and within the last month I moved and transferred my service. Every since then, I have been unable to obtain download speeds higher then 100 Mbps. I have been paying for Gigablast the entire time and I also pay for unlimited data. I have contacted multiple support representatives and I have not gotten a clear answer as to why this is happening. Most tell me that it is my equipment that is causing the issue and that I should contact the manufacturer. They have even stated that if my equipment wasn't the issue, then there wasn't anything else Cox could or would do for me on this issue. I am using an Arris SB 8200 that is just about 11 months old and a new Amplifi Mesh WiFi system that is less then 2 months old, all of which where working just fine until I moved into this new place. But never the less I have contacted both of them and they can not find anything wrong with their equipment. With that in mind, I reset both to factory settings twice in the last month and I still am not able to download anything faster then 100 Mbps. The last service representative I spoke with scheduled a technician to come out to my home to attempt to resolve the issue. I am skeptical that this will work because when I asked what the tech will do during the appointment, the representative said " hopefully they can fix it, if not they will just have to run it up the ladder and escalate it." They said they had the same problem at there home and that the technician could not resolve it so they have just been dealing with it. So now I will just get to wait and see what happens on Thursday. Hopefully someone can offer up a solution a solution other just then dealing with it, or down-grading my internet package.4.5KViews0likes13CommentsUpload and Download speeds not meeting standards
Previously, I would have around 10mbps to 15mbps download and 2mbps to 3mbps upload on my network. I am currently paying for the package that is supposed to offer 30mbps down and (I think) 5mbps up. Lately, these numbers have been even worse, coming down to 7mbps down and 1mbps up.4.5KViews0likes11CommentsInternet download speed
I am paying for Cox High Speed Preferred internet which states it has up to 18mbps download speed. However, I have been testing my download speed weekly for the past three months and never get above 2.9. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I use 2wire.com for my tests.4.3KViews0likes3CommentsRandom lag spikes
Hello , I've been getting random lag spikes for some quite time when I play on xbox and pc. Recently I upgraded my service to gigablast. But it still does it , I've been doing speed test when theres no issues and when I get spikes. I get around 560mb download & 3mb upload on a good moment. 190mb - 300mb & 0.5mb upload when I get spiked. Also my router just loses internet at random times . I have a couple people connected on my router but they mostly watch videos or go on social media. Just mostly affects me whenever I play games. Don't know if I need things to be checked out or what.4KViews0likes3CommentsWhy am i not getting anywhere near 50mbps?
We just upgraded from preferred internet to the premier about a week ago and we haven't seen any changes in speed at all. Last speed check i did the download speed was 13.54 mbps and upload was 7.90 mbps. This was both tested on wi-fi and directly connected to the modem, both had similar results. My modem is aCisco DPQ3212C and router is an ASUSRT-AC66R, which can handle 300 mbps on 2.4 ghz and 1300 mbps on 5 ghz. I have called tech support multiple times and everything seems fine on their end and they just tell me to wait a couple days but nothing has changed. What can I do to fix this? It is very frustrating4KViews0likes1Comment
