Gigablast upload regularly dropping to 1.23Mbps, downloads range from 25Mbps up to 600Mbps. 10-15% packet loss off and on
I've been having intermittent problems over a year with packet loss and speeds. I was also having lots of uncorrectablesbut atech came out last year, said they found something upstream and improved the situation. Still some packet loss and uncorrectables but not as bad. I was of course still charged the repair fee despite it being their issue and had to call to get that removed. Although the situation was better it was still fairly bad so I bought a new cable modem, the Netgear CM1000, whichsomewhat improved the situation further, with reduced packet loss and uncorrectables. It's still not perfect like it used to be for 10 years up until a year ago. Afew weeks ago speeds began intermittently dropping to trash. Packet loss slightly increased. Occassionally I see massive spikes of uncorrectables butnot often. Sometimes it's slow download, sometimes slow upload, sometimes both. Sometimes speeds are okay besides packet loss. As I write this I'm getting445Mbps down, 1.23Mbps up. On Gigablast ("up to" 940Mbps down, 35Mbps up).Earlier in the day I was getting about 100Mbps down but 31Mbps up until afternoon. Here's my cable modem about 30min after rebooting it to see if that helped (it did not). Hi, last week a storm blew through and a fallen tree took out some cables, resulting in loss of connection. It has been since fixed, but ever since I have been experiencing intermittent internet issues. Symptoms: My internet connection would suddenly drop briefly, any streaming would be interrupted, all VoIP would disconnect and online games will disconnect immediately. The connection will be restored immediately (usually within 30s), but this can happen in intervals of 20 minutes to as low as every other minute. I receive intermittent packet loss when doing a packet loss test. Troubleshooting so far: Ever since the initial outage so far, I have replaced my modem 3 times. First was a refurb CM1000, then a new CM1000, now a Arris Surfboard SB200 (I have 500Mbps) I consistently (every ~5 minutes) see the followingmessage in my modem logs, across all 3 modems (MAC address redacted): CM-STATUS message sent. Event Type Code: 16; Chan ID: 159; DSID: N/A; MAC Addr: N/A; OFDM/OFDMA Profile ID: 2.;CM-MAC=XXX;CMTS-MAC=XXX;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;" It would sometimes alternate between Event Type Code 16 and event type code 24. The Chan 159 corresponds to the OFDM channel, and is throwing a lot of correctable codewords (around 10% of total codewords). I will have posted the signal levels and the modem logs as an image to this post I called tech support and after being on the phone with them for 1 hour, they said they detected intermittent packet loss and could see an OFDM error code on their end I have requested a tech to come out,but he said that the signal levels are perfect and that the problem is the modem. I am almost 99% sure its not my modem at this point since I have tried 3 of them and all have the same issue. https://imgur.com/a/nu4jwlEhttps://imgur.com/a/BWTkSKKhttps://imgur.com/GemgqoI Any help would be greatly appreciated.4.7KViews0likes5CommentsCM1000 only getting 400-500Mbps with Gigablast
I've got a CM1000 and Gigablast but I only ever get 400-500mbps. The connection is stable, it's just not hitting advertised speeds. I've tried changing the coax cable, moving the modem to another room in the house, connecting directly to the modem, etc. The speeds are always consistently about half of what I should be getting. I contacted support a few times. Thelast two people I talked to both said the signal looked good on their end. One said they were seeing 11000mbs to the modem, and no packet loss, so the problem must be with the modem. The other similarly said that the signal looked good and there was no packet loss. One said they were getting red flags on the modem, specifically HomeRF, OFDM Status and Channel State. They suggested it's a modem configuration issue but, since it's a third party modem, they couldn't do anything. Thing is, Netgear doesn't have much in the way of support for this kind ofthing so I've been looking for information online and I'm seeing a lot of similar complaintswith stats similar to what I'm seeing on my modem that are always attributed to line problems. For example, the fact that I'm only bonded to the first 20 channels is often attributed to a filter somewhere on the line (there are no filters or splitters inside the house, as far as I am aware). Some of the error messages I've been seeing in the logs are also frequently attributed to line problems. No offense to the reps I spoke to, but I suspect they're more customer service than actual technical experts. I was hoping for a second opinion and maybe some more information. Account: 150mbps connection on new, secondary "Roommate Account". Main account is Gigablast and is working fine with Panoramic router. This question is in reference to the new, secondary "Roommate Account". Hardware both new with latest firmware: Netgear CM1000 Modem Netgear RAX80 WIFI Router Problem: The CM1000 modem is connected with a short ethernet cable to a RAX80 WIFI router. Despite being hard connected to the CM1000 no internet is available on the RAX80 router. A second RAX80 was connected to the CM1000 and there was still no internet through the router. HOWEVER internet is available through the CM1000 if an ethernet cable is plugged directly into it directly from a laptop. So basically CM1000 >> RAX80 >> No internet CM1000 >> Laptop >> Internetworks Could this be the roommate account? Is it treated differently? I've been through Netgear tech support on the RAX80, tried a second RAX80 and it still wouldn't connect. So that narrows it down to the CM1000 and the Roommate Account. The CM1000is a bridge router with no settings.8.6KViews0likes10CommentsRandom upstream power spikes / Internet drops
I'm getting random internet drops due to fluctuating upstream power levels. Most of the time my upstream levels are fine (4 channels between 38-48db). 3-4 times a day at random times they will jump into the upper 50s and the internet times out for a few minutes, then the power levels return to normal. This is very annoying because me and my family due alot of online gaming with party chat on xbox and it cuts me off from everyone and disconnects me from the game. I have tried many different combinations of amps and/or splitters on the main coax line coming into the house to get the signal levels right and its always the same issue with the upstream power so i dont think its a problem on my end. I cancelled my contract with AT&T and switched over to Cox Gigablast last year for $119 a month. After the first few months of exceeding the 1TB data cap I went ahead and upgraded to the unlimited plan ($49.99/mo) to avoid all the overcharges. I've been having a lot of connection problems and intermittent upload/download speeds the past several months. Went to the Cox website to see if there was a fix and noticed my data usage is still high (roughly 2TB a month). Considering I really only play Xbox One and use Chromecast to watch shows on Hulu/YouTube TV (720p/1080p only), I'm a little suspicious. I checked the event log for my Netgear CM1000 modem and noticed a bunch of errors piled up such as: RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power Exceeds Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW Dynamic Range Window violation TLV-11 - unrecognized OID; I'll add the event log and cable connection info below, if someone could take a look and help me make sense of all this I'd greatly appreciate it.
