High Latency/Ping
I have been dealing with a very poor internet connection with very high latency/ping for over a year(especially bad in the last 6 weeks). A technician came out today. He said the signal going from the modem to cox was weak, then spent 40 minutes changing wires in the cable box outside. He then said things should be fine and left before we could even see if the "solution" worked. Of course, the problem is still there, if not worse. Online games are unplayable, voice comms online are impossible, and videos are struggling to buffer. I've run twp tracerts to google, one to overwatch (blizzard), and one to discord (voice chat). At this point, Ifeel defeated and amconsidering switching internet providers. Anyone have any advice? I have already changes coaxial cables, removed splitters, switched routers/modems...etc.1.7KViews0likes1CommentOn Demand Movie Buffering and Freezing up
Every time I rent a movie the video freezes every 5 to 10 seconds like, it is buffering. I have spent $20 on movies I can't watch! Does anyone know how to fix this? I have unplugged the boxes, modem, router, reset video signal, called Cox tech support, no help!1.7KViews0likes1CommentYouTube Buffering Issues with Cox TG1682G Panoramic Wifi Modem/Router
There is an issue with the Cox Panoramic Router/Modem and YouTube. I can't tell if there's a firewall setting or something I'm missing. YouTube videos buffer while using the Cox Arris TG1682G Panoramic Gateway. I thought at first that Cox may be throttling YouTube so I got the FCC involved. I still suspect it, but haven't been able to prove it. However, when I put the Panoramic Modem/Router in Bridged Mode, and connect my own router to it, YouTube doesn't buffer and videos load instantly. Keep in mind that while using the Modem/Router combo in it's normal Routed/w NAT mode; that speeds were great overall. So it isn't a speed issue. It's YouTube in particular and videos taking 5-10 seconds to buffer before playing, only on Cox's network. This was tested on several different computers, and mobile phones with the same results. I've changed DNS servers to use non Cox DNS, played in the router settings, turned off TG1682G firewall, etc. I can't think of anything else that could be causing this except Cox doing some sort of traffic shaping/prioritization, or throttling with YouTube coming from their device, or a TG1682G device setting. Results were intermittent at times, meaning a few times videos would load instantly. That lead me to believe that it wasn't necessarily throttling, but traffic shaping/prioritization instead. Cox has denied those claims as well. The only constant in all of this is the Cox Arris Panoramic Gateway.7.3KViews0likes6CommentsBuffering
Since about a week ago, around July 12th, the show that I've been watching for over two years has been buffering. There is a live chat and no one else is experiencing it. It seems like I have had problems since the "new" look you have in the email. I also haven't been receiving all of my emails. I called up Cox and they said many servers have been updated and were still being worked on. I am not happy since the quality of cox has gone down and my bill went up $9. This is unfair and not good business practices.1.1KViews0likes1CommentConnection and buffering issues since switching to Cox.
We recently switched from Att to Cox. Our smart TV worked fine before the switch. Now it barely loads Fandango and constantly stops to buffer. My son is also having difficulties connecting to Netflix on his Xbox. Both are WiFi. I made sure to get a modem on the approved list for the Premier level. The technician also connected a phone router, so I have two boxes.5.1KViews0likes2CommentsInternet speed problem
I'm having speed problems. I ordered thePremier Internet Service and was told I would have aminimum speed of 50Mb/s down stream. Testing on the Cox speed test since last night results in a 30Mb/s both wireless and wired. I called support last night, We reset the modem, did a few checks and nothing seemed to be an issue. I understand that 30 is still great, but I pay for 50... please explain. The 30Mb/s test is both on the Cox support speed test and speedtest.net. I have a Cisco EA-4500 and a Motorola Modem, router shows a 1Gb connection between the 2 and my BluRay is connected via Ethernet. I noticed the problem last night when I had a buffering problem on both Amazon and Netflix.5.7KViews0likes12CommentsSlow internet
Have the premier package but have been getting down into the29-30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps uprange lately. That is just a little over half the speed I am supposed to be getting and these numbers were taken late at night off of peak hours. It frequently will stall out when trying to view videos from various sources and have to wait for it to "buffer" for a while. My modem is a few years old, don't know if a new one would help or not, but seen some people getting help on here so I figured I would try. I was curious on whether or not my data limit would increase when I upgrade packages; currently I am only using preferred but was thinking of going to ultimate. I find myself often going over the limit with playing video games, having multiple devices and streaming/recording my gameplay. The deal seems it would benefit me but if I am still restricted on data as I am then I would just be paying even more.2.3KViews0likes0Comments
