Open Ports
Is there anyway to find out what ports are open so I can set up an ip camera for outer access? I have one set up now that's working fine but, I bought a new one and while I can run it on the local network....it's not picking up the port I'm using for the outer access, which is the same for the inner access. How can I find out what ports are open so I can change it to view remotely? I've run a program called, Open Port Check Tool and I've gone through numerous port numbers and all are closed except for the one that I have the first camera on. Is Cox blocking these other ports?Solved11KViews0likes2CommentsPort Assignments
Chromecast is competing with other wireless devices, therefore I want to use QoS on my router to prioritize Netflix. To do that, I need to know what ports Netflix uses. Router people sent me to Netflix, Netflix doesn't know (at support), so I hoped to find here!9.9KViews0likes5CommentsVPN with or without DDNS
I am preparing to open ports on a router ( ( LUXUL ) for HTML access for a homeowners automation system. In the past COX has warned our clients that these ports need to be closed or service could be suspended. Cox has also shut down DDNS access from a remote location through their modems. Can you please advise the accepted way for my clients to access their home systems remotely.? These included CCTV , HVAC, Lighting etc. Some system use DDNS servers to track WAN IP changes and some do not. Also, I'd like to set a VPN so I can maintain these systems remotely. Can this be done? Up until the last year or so we did this on a regular basis, it's only since COX started offering these same services , have I noticed diffculties. Is there a connection?6.2KViews0likes3CommentsPort Forwarding Multiple Devices To The Same Ports
Hello, I need to forward multiple devices (a desktop and a laptop) through the same ports on my router, but attempting to do so through www.cox.com/mywifi gives an error that each port can only forward a single device. Is there a way to work around this?1.9KViews1like4CommentsClosed VPN and other ports
Hi! I'm trying to get my Vivint security system to connect (more specifically to be able to broadcast cameras via wifi) and our VPN will not connect or allow camera broadcasting via wireless so we can view the live stream on our mobile devices. I've had serious issues in the past year with ports and our Cox internet service. My bluehost email account will no longer load via our home internet (will everywhere else) and our old ADT security system would not work with our internet either. It worked at first, and then one day during a connectivity technical support call, it all stopped working immediately after a reset from Cox's end. We've attempted port forwarding, but I'm striking out! Cox technical support has been less than helpful, and we are quite fed up! Has anybody had a similar problem with a positive solution?1.9KViews0likes1CommentPort forwarding for SSH or remote access?
Hows it going all. Been seeing quite a few people complaining about the switch that happened with port forwarding. I'm attempting to SSH into a raspberry pi from a completely separate network, and every time i port forward the raspi, the port never opens on the router (tested with telnet and https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) I went in (to the app COX support, because you blocked the firmware option that made it simple and easy), and selected the raspi, told it the port i wanted forwarded, and saved it. I can now view it, and look at it, but not use it apparently? Any ideas anyone? I've tried PuTTy and just ssh through cmd/powershell.1.2KViews0likes1Comment2-3 years and no fix for my gateway deleting and remapping ports

Hi all, I'm running a Panoramic Wifi router/modem and pretty new to networking in general. I've got a laptop connected that I'd like to use as an internet proxy for my phone to sniff out some of the API calls an app is making. I've opened up a port (5555) on my laptop and set it's subnet ip (192.168.0.7) and port as the proxy address for my phone's wifi connection. The phone maintains a wifi connection to the network but is unable to reach the internet. I think the router might be blocking access, though I'm not sure. I've read up on port forwarding and port triggering, though I don't think these come into play as the proxy connection should only go through the subnet, to the laptop, then out to the internet. I'm able to successfully ping the laptop from the phone, and while this gives confidence I can actually reach the laptop on the subnet, I understand the ICMP protocol won't help me verify if ports are open correctly and accessible. I'm not sure how else to debug what's going on. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks for any help!976Views0likes0Comments
