Yes, Cox cancelled the Complete Care the last week of August. I did not. We had modem problems all summer, and I knew Cox was going to have to return eventually, because it probably wasn't the weather, as the first Cox tech who came out stated. Very unusual for them to cancel? I would think so, and I am not paying for that $75 cancellation. I'll file a complaint with the FCC if it is not removed from the bill. The $10 care cost was even on the same bill! Also, Tiffany at Cox, unless the FCC changed their rule in the last month or so, you MUST get a modem from Cox if you have a landline phone. The modem must be a free lease, must have no monthly charge attached, and Cox can't say you have to get their modem/router and pay a monthly router fee, when you don't want a router from them. I posted my thread to see if the problem with a cancelled Cox Care has happened to anyone else. You have no business locking my thread since you either don't want any replies to it, except for your own, or because you think I was not honestly describing the situation. I assure you everything I said was true, and it's the honesty of Cox that needs to be questioned. Cox Complete Care Cancellation Charge Cox actually tried to charge $75 for cancelling Cox Complete Care when I did not cancel it! We had constant trouble with the Cox phone/internet service all summer, and I do mean constant. Day after day the modem started blinking and service was down sometimes for only a short period of time, other times for hours. A Cox tech came out when the service was not down, said there was no wiring problems and to just update the modem. He said the weather was probably causing the problems. Updated modem and still had constant problems. Had Complete Care and had no intention of cancelling it, since obviously we were going to have to get Cox back out eventually. They did come out in early September, since modem and phone did not work at all for over 24 hours. Since it was a holiday weekend, they wanted to come out 6 days later! They changed it to four days, after complaining that they should not take so long to repair a landline phone. (Why the FCC rule about having to get a modem from Cox, instead of buying your own, if Cox doesn't quickly come out and fix it?) This time they fixed the problems, both with the jack and outside wiring. Then the bill came, where they charged $75 for cancelling Cox Complete Care in late August. As stated, I did not cancel it. Either Cox is incompetent in billing, or they wanted to get their $75 for the tech visit when they couldn't get that since we had Complete Care. Called Cox and they said it would be removed from the bill and they reinstated the Cox Complete Care, which, by the way, was a $10 charge on the current bill, too! Anyone else have this happen? Re: My internet connection keeps dropping all day. If you have another Cox jack in the house and it can be used for the modem, try that. Re: Only Allowed Panoramic Modem & Its Extender Pods . . . . Okay, the modem I have is Voice/Internet Modem Brand: CISCO Model: DPQ3212. I got it back when the telephone first had to have a modem. The tech said it was an outdated modem, and I noticed some place on the account equipment page there was a notice that it was outdated. I also noticed somewhere on the website that it stated Cox did not provide service to a voice modem that was not issued by Cox. (I assumed they meant service service, but maybe they meant repair service?) I thus assumed that meant I must get the one and only voice/internet router Cox showed I should get--the Panoramic Gateway Modem/Router. Sorry, I don't understand at all what you are saying about eMTA. My current router is the Netgear Nighthawk X6S (R8000P)--AC4000, and the extender is the Netgear Nighthawk EX8000. After posting, I came across a web page showing what extenders worked well with the Cox Panoramic modem and the Netgear Nighthawk 7000 was listed, so it seems the 8000 should work, too. I called for service because the phone and internet keep going out, and I had to either unplug everything or reset the modem, using the reset button on the back. The funny thing is the tech they sent out said he lived nearby, had hooked up all his Cox stuff himself, and he was currently having the same problem, as are many others, he said. He thinks it's the weather. 🙂 Only Allowed Panoramic Modem & Its Extender Pods . . . . Okay, I'm back with another modem question. In earlier posts, I was telling how both the phone and internet were going out almost every day. I would then have to unplug everything or reset the modem. Finally, had Cox come out yesterday. The tech said nothing was wrong outside, but I should replace the modem since it was outdated. (You would think they would have mentioned that when I got tech help in a previous phone call.) Now, I was told here that since I have voice, too, I can only get a modem from Cox. (A chat rep just told me that was not true, but I think she was wrong.) The only modem choice given is the Panoramic Wi-Fi Gateway, which is both modem and router. I wanted to use my own router, and was going to get a mesh system, but obviously not. I have to use a Wi-Fi extender in my house. So, do I have to buy a Panoramic Wi-Fi Pod 2.0, or can I use another type extender? Anyone here using an extender with that modem? Re: NO SERVICE AGAIN By reset, I mean I used a pencil to push in the reset button in the back. It didn't change anything, but the internet came back on. It didn't do anything to the Wi-fi extender, either. Oh, password . . . have you ever tried to change or find your password with Netgear? You can't do anything without knowing your password, and I have never been able to figure out all they say to find it or change it. Spoke too early, too . . . internet and phone went out yesterday around noon, but came back on after I unplugged everything. Didn't have to push any reset buttons. T-Mobile internet is sounding more interesting by the day . . . but it's not in my area yet . . . and I find it hard to believe it would be as consistent as a wired network like Cox. Re: NO SERVICE AGAIN If I changed the router setting, it was by accident, since I wouldn't know how to do so. I think I reset the router once, though. As I said in another thread, however, since posting my first issue here, there has been no more Cox outages of any type. Re: NO SERVICE AGAIN What does it mean when all the lights on the modem and router are normal, but the internet is not there? Combination Modem & Router . . . . If you were going to get a new Cox approved modem, would you get instead a modem/router model, or only a modem to hook up to a Netgear Nighthawk router that is a few years old? If only a modem, would you get a Netgear one to match the router brand or think it wouldn't matter? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a modem/router combo unit? Can You Have Separate Cox Modems For Voice & Internet? I have been having to reset or unplug the Cox voice/internet modem every day for a week now. Usually, it's only the internet going down, but sometimes so does the phone. Thus, I'm thinking of getting a new modem or modems. I'd like to have a voice one downstairs and an internet one upstairs. Is that possible? There are Cox jacks both upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs is the Cox modem and a Netgear Nighthawk router. Upstairs is a Netgear Wi-Fi Nighthawk extender. The landline is only used downstairs and the internet is only used upstairs. I'm not sure this is a modem problem, though, since they repaved the streets last week, and I'm sure the Cox service boxes, which are only a few feet from the street, got vibrated badly. I may call Cox about that, but figured one of the neighbors would have by now, if they were having problems, too. I personally don't feel like getting into a Cox service call/visit situation right now.
