Someone keeps breaking into my modem. I’ve tried changing the password but for some reason they still can break thru. I’ve got the cox app and a lot of unknown devices keep popping in. Is there something that you can do?
Can you compare the MAC addresses of each unknown device to your known devices?
Do you have other wireless routers in your home?
So I found out what happened! Yesterday I bought one of those ring doorbells that connects to the modem by wifi.
Well it turns out it’s pretty easy to connect to them as explained here: https://www.makeuseof.com/ring-doorbell-hack/amp/ this explains everything lol
Heres a log from yesterday
I think it’s probably a made up MAC addres nobody doing this stuff is going to use their real credentials people can do crazy stuff with computers.
I would suggest changing the network name(SSID) and see what tries to connect. If it happens then you know it's a person trying to get into your network and not something trying to automatically connect.
I’ll try to do that. Apparently he got access to my gmail and requested a complete data backup. He also logged into my Reddit (because it’s connected to my gmail login( and changed my username and also deleted all my messages. That’s pretty low and I also had a lot of private personal information there now I’m pissed off this guy is looking for trouble.
WOw, that is a different ball game then. If you know for sure you have been hacked I would go to Defcon 1 and start resetting all your passwords and enable 2FA. Don't post exactly what your going to do here in case he/she is reading this.
...and disconnect Ring.
