how do you create regex rules?
what is the syntax?
I've tried several times AND googled regex and came away very confused.
I have seen examples in other posts here and tried some of those, and they do not seem to work.
when I create them either they send EVERYTHING to a folder I request or NOTHING.
really the spam filter options are garbage.
Does this thread help? By our helpful user CurtB
I think OP is looking to use wildcards. I'm unsure which application OP is using for email.
cox webmail I've already seen the post widermouthopen links to. no it does not help.
every post I have found requesting help on how to create filters in cox webmail ends the same, with no answers. it seems no one knows how the filters work.
Give us an example of what you're trying to filter.
I am trying to filter out spam that comes in to cox webmail. I am trying to use the regex filters but I cannot find information on how regex works in cox webmail. I can find information on regex but they either do not work in cox or cox gives an error.
here is a rule I made:
envelope/header from/ part all/regex
/(emlsend|gumbamail|nutrisystem|jamesfy|audiobooks|dieselbun|wild|seafood|dicclet|quicken|homes)/i
the above rule is based on other posts on this forum. the posters did not explain the rules or syntax, and so far they either do not work or they send everything to a folder I created.
I have tried other variations of regex but the same results, filters everything or nothing.
