Is Cox working on “Cable Haunt” the recently discovered flaw that has been discovered in millions of some of the most popular cable modems in use today? If so, what do we do about it if our modem is on the suspected list?

  • Your guidance to use a strong password has no applicability the the Cable Haunt issue. You should probably research the actual issue before providing a generic "use a strong password" answer. The ironic thing is that Cox didn't use a strong password in the web server inside some of their cable modems which makes exploiting this security vulnerability trivial. All it takes for someone to get compromised is visiting a website that has malicious javascript or an ad with malicious javascript. Nothing a user can do with respect to passwords will make any difference. For reference, the details about the vulnerability can be found here: https://cablehaunt.com/
