new tv old cable box

I just bought a new Smart TV. My cox cable box is about 6 or more years old. My old TV is 12 years old. Do I need a new cable box to hook up to HYDMI*?

Does your new TV have component audio and video cables?  If so, then no.

      What's the make and model of your new TV.  I'll check if it's compatible with your old box.

        I have called cox and they said I need a new contour s box as my box is 6 years old.

        and a new cox remote.Thank You
