I am still confused. I have Cox Advanced TV Premier. What is Contour? Does it cost the same as what I already have?

Contour is an Interactive Program Guide (IPG) for Cox cable boxes.  If you're like me, you still have Rovi, which is Cox' earlier IPG.

Cox first released Contour only on cable boxes with the DVR feature.  That was a few years ago and since then, it's become their standard platform.  Cox no longer improves or updates Rovi because they're phasing it out.

I never wanted to record anything so I've kept my Rovi all these years.  Cox tells me to exchange it but it still works.  I think when Cox finally pulls its plug, I'll only return my box to Cox and start steaming my TV via the Internet.  TV is a horrendous value for its cost.

When you finally exchange your box and don't opt for the recording feature, your rental fee will remain the same.
