wife deletes emails, it deletes mine too

My wife and I both have iphone 8's & use cox email as our primary on our phones. The issue is that when she deletes an email from her phone, it deletes it from my phone, regardless if I have read it or not. Also vise-versa. Both of us have iphone's email configured to imap as incoming servers & smtp as outgoing server. I thought there used to be an option on Cox webmail to leave messages on server but don't see that on cox webmail or on my iphone 8, or perhaps I just don't see it?

THanks in advance!

  • Vandt00, using IMAP configuration syncs your inbox across devices so that the contents of the mailbox will be the same no matter which device you are using to view your mail. This prevents the old problem of trying to figure out which device downloaded a particular message and helps you better maintain your mailbox all around. There is no option to leave a copy on the server since everything is synced. The option to leave a copy of messages on the server is part of the advanced settings when using POP.
Since all devices are synced, the deleted messages should appear in the deleted items folder on all devices. -ColleenD Cox Support Forums Moderator
