- BeckyModeratorHI Stan-man, are there any splitters on the coax connection to the modem? If so, bypass the splitter temporarily and connect the modem directly to the cable outlet. So that we can isolate the modem's performance, connect a laptop or other device directly to the modem with an ethernet cord. After changing the connections around, reset the modem by unplugging the power for a few seconds and then plugging it back in. Use the internet as you normally do for a while and see if you experience drops in internet speed or loss of connectivity. If connectivity issues continue, it's most likely time to replace your modem. If everything is fine during this test, the modem isn't the issue, so reconnect the splitter and reset the modem again. Test your internet connectivity for a while and see if you experience any issues. If connectivity problems begin, the splitter needs to be replaced. If everything is fine, we've ruled out the splitter and the modem as the source of the problem. Please let us know the results of these tests! -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
