Weird problem with cloud storage - internet disconnection

When we use cloud storage to upload a lot of data (50 GB to 100 GB+) our internet goes out after 12 to 24 hours.

It just dies.

What could be the issue ? Thanks.

We have to restart the router and cable modem to get our internet back.

  • Hi PhilGg,

There is not a limitation set that would cause us to interrupt your service and cause the issue you described. The only thing I can think of is that our residential receive a dynamic Ip address for a period that is usually 24 hours and that has to be renewed. This normally happens seamlessly and you would not notice. But steady uploading may be interrupting this process and causes the modem to lose its IP address and restarting renews it. My suggestion would be to try breaking uploads into smaller segments. Like 10 to 20 Gigabytes at a time. This is not a common use case that we see. we can certainly review your account and see if there is an issue with your modems connection. Please feel free to email us your account info including full street address and a link to this forum post at Cox.help@cox.com.
