Updating to docsis 3 modem

Changed internet plans (to lower data plan) - and cox would not provision my existing modem with the new slower plan - even though it worked just fine on the higher-tiered plan - my existing modem was docsis 2 and cox now requires docsis 3 (even for low-data plans?) anyway - new docsis 3 modem arrives and would not connect - after much trouble shooting the issue was narrowed down to the wall drop being split 2-way to run a mini box and the new modem - as modem would connect when directly connected - apparently the new docsis 3 modem was not getting enough signal strength or bandwidth to connect when split with the mini box - cox provided me a new 2-way splitter (5-1002MHz) to see if that would resolve the issue and it would not, modem still would not connect when split - my local hardware store had a 5-3GHz splitter so I decided to try that - low and behold it works - the only difference I can determine between the splitter that did work and the one that didn't is the higher bandwidth on the splitter that worked.

Just an FYI for those that may be having connection issues with a new docsis 3 modem, if you have a splitter on the line, try a higher bandwidth splitter to see if that solves the issue, it did for me.  Cheers.
