Mesh system with Cox Panoramic WiFi router?

Just moved to Cox today from Verizon 5G home, was using a TP-Link Deco mesh system with the Verizon router.  Can I use the same setup with the Cox Panoramic router?

If so, should I match the network names between the two or have one network on the Pano and a different network on the mesh?  (Having one seems preferable, but I wonder if they'll clash?)

  • No problem, as long as either the pano is in bridge mode, OR the wireless router for the mesh system is running as an access point.

If your mesh system has it's own base router, then you need to setup the Pano modem on pass through/bridge mode, and then connect YOUR router via ethernet OR, setup YOUR router as an access point! In the first method, bridge mode, you can keep the SSID you have been using the same. In the second method, you either have to program the pano device with the SSID you have been using, (THAT way you don't have to reconnect ALL of your wireless devices, OR, setup an new SSID on the pano, then on your mesh, and then reconnect all your devices.

Thanks Darkatt - that makes sense.

I think I may try the first method, mostly so I can keep the guest network live from my router.  (Info is a little conflicting, but it seems the Pano routers do not have guest network capability?)

You are correct. Guest network capability was removed years ago to be able to provide wireless cable boxes that connect automatically to the pano WiFi.

Personally I use a Netgear CM2000, and a Netgear Nighthawk RAXE300, and it's a great combo. I used to have an Arris DG2460, and was sent a pw7 when I upgraded, here is my testing head to head.

(My Cox-provided Panoramic router is the PW7 in case that makes a difference.)

It shouldn't be natting if it's an access point. it HAS to pass through the IP from the main router. The easiest way to check, is to login to the main router, (or if a pano, use the pano app), and see what devices are connected, and verify the IP addressing.
