Terrible Webmail Performance

If Webmail is the only email platform that COX technically supports, why does this platform *** as bad as it does?  I use the webmail via Chrome, Firefox, and IE and it performs the same on all of the browsers.   Half the time when you browse to "myemail.cox.net" it times out before you get to a login screen.  If you're lucky enough to get past the login, while it loads the next screen it will time out.  IF you're lucky enough to get fully logged in, the performance of the site itself is slow.

I've cleared my internet cache, turned off all extension, stood on one leg with one arm raised and still the same performance.

Sad that a technology company can't seem to get this resolved in a timely manner.

  • I agree that this webmail platform $ucks horribly. I don't use it often, but if I'm away from my regular PC with Outlook I need it to see my email. At least half of the time it just spins and eventually times out and says the page can't be displayed. When it does go through it is painfully slow. It didn't used to be this way, but I'm pretty sure Cox farmed out their email services to a vendor who $ucks.

I can only access it on one PC, the other won't connect on any browser. even then it's a crapshoot and missed to connect on every 3rd attempt. the old webmail was fine, this enhanced is garbage. their own emails go into my spam folder or get marked as spam.

today it seems that anyone using office or another software to DL messages isn't working as well as android. I haven't received a message all day, just rejecting notices on my phone.

My problem with the webmail is that it is so dang slow.  Takes forever to do anything...from logging in to logging out.  Most of the time I just close the browser to log out rather than wait for it to finish refreshing so I can log out, because if you try to hit logout while it's refreshing, it will ignore the logout and when it finishes refreshing, you're back in whatever folder you were refreshing.  Flagging messages as good out of spam folder back to the inbox typically takes an extra refresh in order to get them to appear in the inbox.

It might have some newer features, but it desperately needs some optimization for usability and speed.

  • If you are having latency issues when accessing Webmail via a web browser, we suggest the following:

    • Clear browser cache, cookies, and temporary files.
    • Make sure your browser content settings accept first and third-party cookies.
    • If your browser is out-of-date, update to the latest browser version.
    • Try a different browser.
    • Do you have hundreds of emails in your Inbox? Deleting or filing Inbox emails into folders may speed up the Inbox.
    • Changing your Inbox "View" setting to List View can often speed up the Inbox.

If you are getting a specific error message or are unable to access your Webmail Inbox, please let us know.

  • Hi AZGunrunner, I apologize for the slow responsiveness on the new email platform. While we are migrating all email accounts to the new platform, we are also working to improve performance. Are you experiencing any slowness while trying to access any other websites?

I can guarantee that none of those things work for me to speed up webmail access, because I've already done them repeatedly in the past.  Regardless of my connection (high speed cable, business cable), browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera), or amount of mail in my mailbox (very few..I generally don't keep mail on the server), webmail is slow.

  • Hi Davidoo, while we are migrating all email accounts to our new platform, we are also working to improve performance. Are you experiencing any slowness while trying to access any other websites? If you are also experiencing any issues with other web sites loading, we recommend trying the following steps (as previously outlined in Becky's reply):
-Clear browser cache, cookies, and temporary files.
-Make sure your browser content settings accept first and third-party cookies.
-If your browser is out-of-date, update to the latest browser version.
    -Try a different browser.
-Do you have hundreds of emails in your Inbox? Deleting or filing Inbox emails into folders may speed up the Inbox.
-Changing your Inbox "View" setting to List View can often speed up the Inbox.

Are you getting a specific error message? Please let us know.

  • Well intermittently, web mail is especially slow for me as well today but I suppose if you can busy your paying customers with infinitely meaningful tasks like switching browsers, clearing cash and cookies, checking for software updates, etc., you will stall them off long enough to where the problem, whatever it actually is, is temporarily resolved and people are convinced that your advice worked.  Problem solved, right?

  • Getting a "Connection error, the service is not available right now- retry (link)" message from time to time logging in.  Moving messages from folder to folder sometimes take a hugely inordinate amount of time... sometimes.  This tends to debunk the premise that it's something with my machine/software.

I will need to pay closer attention as I log into Cox features- it behaves like there are a number of levels of logging in taking place.  Perhaps email services have been outsourced...?

    Same Issues accessing Webmail https://email.cox.net/

It takes forever to load and refresh and often times returns a Connection Error.
