Technicolor CGM4141 Modem

A thrift store near me has a couple of Technicolor CGM4141 Cox modems for sale for $20. If I get one of these, anybody have any idea if I’ll be able to use it? I don’t see these on the Cox website as owned modems, though they say Cox on them. The specs are great for $20 - Docsys 3.1 and 32x8 channels - much better than my old 3.0 modem.

  • Hi Ratoren,

It sounds like the equipment belongs to Cox. If you are looking to upgrade your modem. I suggest reaching out to our Sales Team online for assistance: www.cox.com/.../contactus.html

    Thank you,

I would avoid these modems because you can't verify the origin.  It may have been purchased legitimately from a store; however, Cox may have previously issued it to a subscriber.

The Technicolor CGM4141 contains a telephone modem and if there is a possibility Cox had loaned it to a subscriber, the subscriber either didn't return it to Cox or someone stole it from the subscriber.  Meaning, if Cox didn't get it back, Cox blacklisted it from their network.
