Yes, that box is checked. below it says "delete message from server after one week." HOwever, I may not have made my problem clear. The problem is not with outlook; it is with Cox Webmail, where there is a folder called "Sent Objects" that does not exist in outlook. That folder is where the problem lies, as it is full of oversized multiples of old messages. Could Outlook be causing this?
- Becky6 years agoModeratorHi Hermione, the Sent Object folders will only appear in Webmail. Email clients like Outlook usually default to a "Sent", "Sent Mail", or "Sent Items" folder. My original theory was that perhaps the Webmail IMAP settings were trying to synchronize the Sent Objects folder and the Outlook Sent folder, causing data to become corrupt and generating duplicate emails in the Sent Objects folder. Once you delete all of the emails in the Sent Object folder, does the folder then begin storing sent mail correctly? Or does sent mail continue to display duplicate copies? -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

Thanks for clarifying Sent Objects. I just deleted more emails from Sent Objects this morning. Today it was populated with hundreds of the same email, but all with different dates of origin (none of these had the actual date of the original email.) I selected all of the items and put them in the Trash, then emptied the trash. Went back to Sent Items to find hundreds more (can't tell if they are the same as the ones I just trashed). There were also some that I had trashed the other day. So the answer is NO, it does not revert to storing emails correct.
- Becky6 years agoModeratorHi Hermione, there must be a corrupt email causing these issues. Close Outlook. In Webmail, click on the Sent Objects folder. A "hamburger" icon (menu) of 3 horizontal lines will display next to the Sent Objects folder name. Click the menu icon and choose "Delete all messages." Once the folder appears empty, click the Sent Objects menu again and choose Properties. Does the Properties window display zero messages? Log out of Webmail for a minute or two and then log back in. Click on the Sent Objects folder. Does it show any emails? Send yourself a test email. Click on the Sent Objects folder. Does it display your test email only, or does it also display other sent items? We may have to have our email administrators investigate this behavior. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
