Just got gigablast and getting great numbers wired. However, the new gateway panaromaic WiFi can’t cover my 2000sq ft home at full speed.

100 Mbps to the TV is good.
"Attaining even half" of what...the 100 Mbps of the TV or the bandwidth of your wired connection?
Do a speed test from your wireless devices as well as provide the types of wireless cards.
If you return your Panoramic WiFi modem, you'll also have to purchase a new modem.
Don't get me wrong. I'd be the first to return a Panoramic for the rental fees alone. I just want to help find the best router for you.

The half I was referring to is half of the speed of my wired connection to my desktop which is 900-960.
As far as testing my wireless cards, I’m consistent across the board on all wireless connections near my TV. Which needs to stay where it is.
In all honesty i found a device from a friend which he has showed me works. I just want to know if gigablast works with it. It’s expensive I know but it’s worth it to me.
Would u happen to know if Orbi Mesh router works with gigablast in San Diego?
I know there are other devices, but I’ve seen this particular device work with my own eyes as well as my own devices, so Orbi Mesh is the only way I’ll go unless it doesn’t work with gigablast.
I'll break this up into 2 chunks of Compatibility and Wireless Bandwidth (awesome speeds).
Compatibility. Cox owns a network of coaxial, fiber optic and hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) cables. To connect to their network, you'll need a Cox-certified device. The device for their coaxial network is a DOCSIS modem. The device for their fiber optic network is Optical Network Terminal (ONT). You'll need one of these devices.
It's not a question of Orbi being compatible with Gigablast. It's a question of you having a DOCSIS or ONT compatible and capable with the Cox network as well as your Cox Internet-plan. If Cox installed a Panoramic WiFi modem, I'll assume it's compatible and capable. That's how you connect to the Cox network.
Orbi, on the other hand, has to be compatible with that DOCSIS or ONT. If Orbi is WiFi certified with IEEE 802.11...it is...Orbi will not only work in San Diego, but also Caribou, Maine. It'll work.
The Panoramic WiFi modem is both a modem and router. If you return your Panoramic, you'll need to buy both a modem and router. Tiffany provided a link to certified modems, and you'll shop around for a WiFi-certified router, such as Orbi.
If price is a concern, we can help find a less expensive but equally powerful router.

I'm confused. Consistent to what...to the 100 Mbps of your TV or half the speed of your wired desktop connection (900-960)?
If you're getting 450-480 Mbps wireless, you're doing pretty well.

As as far as the Orbi Mesh I believe it’s both a modem and router like the Cox panoramic. However it uses Mesh vs gateway for WiFi.
In in terms of price, I’m willing to spend in the $350 range.
100 Mbps would be disappointing to me as well. Because of its rental fees alone, I wouldn't even bother tweaking the Panoramic. Return it.
The Orbi does NOT have a modem. It needs to connect to another device. Remember, you'll need either a DOCSIS modem or an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to connect onto the Cox network. DOCSIS uses the cable-TV network (coaxial). If Cox has fiber optic cable in your neighborhood, they'll connect an ONT on or in your house. The ONT will then connect to your Orbi. If your friend doesn't have a DOCSIS, he has an ONT. The Orbi needs to connect to another device.
"...Mesh vs. Gateway for WiFi..." A mesh and a gateway are two different things. Every home network has a gateway router...but not all home networks have a mesh. Your gateway is the Access Point to/from your home network. If you want to shop online, you go through the gateway. If someone wants to send you a file, it goes through your gateway.
A mesh extends the wireless signals from your gateway. For example, the wireless signal will start at the Orbi gateway...an Orbi Satellite will receive it...and then the Orbi Satellite will relay the signal to your laptop. It's a "mesh" of wireless devices to rebroadcast the original signal from your gateway. Not all home networks have these rebroadcasting devices.
Before returning your Panoramic, we need to recommend both a DOCSIS and a router.
First, do you have Cox telephone service? If so, it'd be nice to combine both telephone and Internet into 1 device. However, if you want that 1 device, you'll have to buy it from Cox. For example, the ARRIS/Surfboard TM3402 DOCSIS supports both Gigablast & Cox Voice but you can't buy it retail. You can buy its DOCSIS equivalent, but it won't have the eMTA portion for telephone service.
If you do have Cox telephone service but don't care about combining, Cox, by FCC law, has to freely issue you a telephone modem. Freely. Don't lose it because someday you'll have to return it.
