Cox to Yahoo to google

Hello How do I add my cox/yahoo account to Gmail where my cox account was before.  i have tried adding an account and the server error comes up.  I have tried many things but I can't add new Yahoo c...

    First thing is that we have to wait until cox tells us that our specific email account is ready for the move to the yahoo servers. Doing this early will probably result in some sort of error. Second, from what I read, you will first have to setup the transition on a yahoo platform directly such as a yahoo mobile app or via a web browser. Once that is done, then you should try and add the account to your Gmail app with the specific imap server settings that yahoo provides.

It’s total BS. WHEN I try to add wife’s cox account to yahoo on my iPad , all I get is a loop asking me to sign in. What good is it if you can’t have 2 accounts on one device? I’m sure it works for yahoo.com, but not for cox.net. This is unacceptable. They even have cash upgrades, but obviously we got the dirt cheap version.

Hi Tdarby, I'd be frustrated if I felt like I was going in circles, too. I'm sorry this has been such a frustrating process! Is your wife able to access her Cox.net email when she logs into http://mail.yahoo.com/? Since accounts are being transitioned to Yahoo slowly, it's possible that your email was moved to Yahoo but your wife's email has not. If she can access her email by logging into http://mail.yahoo.com/, then disregard my question. If she can't access her email through the Yahoo website, have her try logging into myemail.cox.net. How are you trying to set up her mail on your iPad--using the Mail App or another app like Outlook? We've got some real experts in our Community, and I'm sure we can help you figure this out.

    Becky, This depends if the two accounts are separate accounts.  By that I mean if they have two different account numbers and two separate bills (doubtful), or, if one of the accounts is the primary and the others were secondary emails (how Cox allowed 5 or 6 emails under one primary account).  On other forum discussions if you transferred the primary account, all email addresses attached to the primary get transferred (happened to me), and another fellow transferred a secondary account and all his others transferred.

    Overall, once an email account has been transferred Cox is glad to have you out of their system, and pushes all issues to Yahoo support.

      During the transition it's more likely that all email addresses on a single Cox account won't all transition at the same time. Child accounts don't automatically transition when the primary email account does. They are all treated individually. individual service accounts would definitely transfer separately.

        Ok, Then why did ALL 4 of my child accounts transfer when I only logged in and Yahoo updated the primary account?  I was on Cox Chat for what seemed like forever, more than likely only 2-3 hours trying to get Thunderbird operational, when the Cox service technician informed me all of my child accounts were transferred.  And that is why my child accounts were failing.  I asked "Who transferred those accounts?" and I was informed they transferred when I transferred my primary account.  So I guess I did it to myself.  That was only my experience, your mileage may vary in this endeavour, as numerous questions from irate and frustrated Cox customers about this transfer of emails indicates.

        My impression is that Cox ONLY cared about the transfer of email accounts as it pertained only to "web" usage of email services.  Because Yahoo makes money from selling "upgraded" services and all the advertising it has on the web email services.  When using 3rd party applications, it is very easy to filter out the advertising

        And by and by.  Yahoo was of no help getting Thunderbird operational with Yahoo services.  I found user Waleee had accomplished what I had failed to do in 5 hours.  5 minutes after reading and following his post, Thunderbird was up and operational.
