Offers to save $ on internet bill

Hello all, I'm curious to know if any of you have experienced problems with a type of "bait and switch" tactic being used by Cox regarding offers to lower your internet bill?  I've received both emails and regular postal mail offers from Cox telling me that they can lower my internet bill by $20 per month for 2 years and keep my current package.  Twice I have called in to the number provided to activate the offer.  The first call I made they advised me that they (the person on the line) could not help because they offer was not showing to be available for my account.  They advised that I call back in a few days.  The next time I called they started off by telling me the same thing.  When I told them that I had already called in previously, they put me on hold and came back to tell me that the offer was no longer available (my email said the offer was good until 3/31/25 and I was talking to them on 2/20/25) However, they could probably give me a much better deal.  So, they proceeded to try and sell me mobile service and a bundle to which was going to cost much more than what I was already paying.  Bottom line, they had no intention of providing the offer that they were sending out to me.  I politely let the representative give his sales pitch and then told him I wasn't interested and I just wanted the offer they had sent me.  He politely told me he could not give me that offer.  I later spoke to a supervisor who explained to me that these offers are sent out by the company and do not necessarily apply to the customer.

Yup, heard of a lot of companies that allow 3rd party contractors to sell service. Their only intention is to make money(commission) off of you. Ignore them. They try to push cellular because I think it's the most profitable thing they sell because they are just reselling Verizon service. There used to be a special number you could call that would direct you to retention for a 40% off deal, but I think they shut that down. Now it's like pulling teeth.

With that said, this is a forum to discuss technical issues. Also, besides the moderators, there are only 3-4 users here, so it's not like you going to get much user input and the moderators will only tell you to email/contact them.
