Netgear CM1000 slow download speeds

Hi Forum,

This is my first post so I hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction. I have a Netgear CM1000 modem and the famed Gigablast service. The service has been slow. I had a tech come out this last week and he measured 700Mbs download speed directly from the cable. When I hook my laptop up directly I only get 90mps. The tech did not have any suggestions to  improve suggested I have a defective modem or laptop. Does anyone have any experrience here. I ssaw several posts where speeds were slow but not this slow. Any help is appreciated.

    Do you have a gigabit network card in the laptop?

      Hi I checked device manager and it has this card

      Realtek PCIe FE / GBE / 2.5G / Gaming Ethernet Family Controller Software

      Network Interface Controllers > 2.5G Gigabit Ethernet > PCI Express

    I did not even bother to read your comment but it says "speed" in it so I am going to say please visit www.cox.com/fixyourinternetbutnotreally.com or reach out to our tier 1 technicians on facebook that are going to ask you to reset your router!!!
