as long as it's on the supported list it will work you don't need d 3.1 service to use a d 3.1 modem
- KevinM2Former Moderator@AZMoosie, Andrew is correct. Please make sure that the modem you purchase is from our Cox-Certified list of modems. The list can be located here:

Cox-certified DOCSIS 3.1 devices are backward-compatible with DOCSIS 3.0 technology. Additionally, if you decided to upgrade to Gigabit speeds later, this will require a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator- AZMoosieNew Contributor
Thanks guys, I already knew that the Motorola MG7550 is on the Cox supported list, and that it is downward compatible with 3.0. My question was, does Cox support (perhaps has Cox implemented 3.1 is more clear) in the North Scottsdale area.
- BrianMModeratorYour area is gigablast serviceable, so yes, we support 3.1 in your specific area.
