Internet intermittent drop outs and now speed

I commented on a post here about internet intermittent drop outs. Corresponding back to response, I realized my modem was no longer considered certified by cox. I bought a new modem Netgear CM500. Next morning, I was still getting drop outs. Called tech support. Tech came and replaced a part outside house and line from pole to house. Next morning, still getting drop outs. Call tech support. Tech tells me my internet plan was 50Mps was a thing of the past and if I upgraded to 300Mps all my problems would be solved. Sure upgrade. The internet speed decreased when I upgraded. My wifi signal went from 50Mps to 30 Mps. Scheduled tech visit. Tech that was sent to my house was not very helpful. Walked in and said saw my equipment and immediately said I couldn't get 300 Mps. My CM500 and Linksys E2500 are both rated for that. I didn't argue the point. I ordered a new and improved router to see if this will help with my problem. This comes on Monday. This morning, I downloaded inSSIDer Plus to check out my wifi. I'm just curious as to why it says I have a Lynksis 24115 connected data rate of 150Mps. Shouldn't that say 300 Mps. I just want my internet not to be dropping out. Getting the speed I'm paying for would be a bonus.

I don't see where I can delete post. I did play with with my router and have gotten my wireless speed back to 50Mps so I am happy with that.

Hi Amcfanny, we're glad to know that your speeds are back to normal. If you encounter speed issues in the future, I would recommend hard-wiring your modem directly to a PC or laptop and performing a speed test. For optimum results, I suggest using the Cox Internet Speed Test tool, http://bit.ly/2VsdGbX. Please don't hesitate to send us an email at cox.help@cox.com as well. -Kevin M. I got my gigabit router yesterday and hooked up. I am getting the 300 Mbps ethernet. I am still having internet drop outs this morning. ITs very aggravating. Everything has been replaced and my plan was upgraded.

I am seeing quite a few timeout errors on your modem and the signal levels are a bit lower than the normal range. If all splitters have been bypassed/connections checked on coax, then we will likely need to have a technician out. We can setup an appointment for you if you would like, send us an email to cox.help@cox.com with your service address and a link to this thread.
